- So no 99 Octane in Devon or Cornwall.
Surprising they can get away with selling 97 Octane as "Super Unleaded" that in other counties in UK is 99 Octane.
Wonder what Trading Standards think of this . . . . .

I use it and i think it works great i have to say. It is usualy not much more than unleaded anyway. Careful though some stations super is 97 even within the tesco garages. I have a few favourite stations i always try and time a fill up with.
All unleaded at 97 or above is branded super.
Redditch has only recently got 99 ron at Tescos and I use it a lot now. I have always had good results from it. Tescos 97 was atrocious though.
They sell it at other places than that, well at least they certainly do at Tesco in Ellon, Aberdeenshire.
I see that Shell V-Power is now actually shown as 98 Ron at the pump (well, it is at my local station anyway).
Has anyone see any evidence to suggest more power can get got from Tesco 99 Ron vs Shell V-Power?

V-Power has always been 98 ron.
Tesco 99 has ethanol in it to increase the octane rating.
However, whether it's got any more calorific value...
I'm another Tesco fan. I use it regularly and have never had an issue with it.
However its now £1.10 a litre at my local garage!!

This is a comprehensive test of tesco 99ron against some popular alternatives with dyno readouts etc. makes good reading and it is clear that shell and bp are no where near as good, if you believe everything you read lol. By the way these were the people that did the top gear britcar challenge on biodiesel lol.Originally Posted by White Lightning
