Is anyone able to give me the type/size of bolts required for the Inlet manifold and rocker covers?
They seem to be high tensile ones and I would just like to use fresh (and hopefully color coded) bolts when everything goes back together.

There are about 11 bolts on the inlet manifold, comprising around 4 different lengths! Not sure on the variety of the rocker cover bolts, but there are about 11/12 per head.
Not sure I'd be using fresh ones though unless the old ones have sheared. The bolts will probably be the last thing left on the car to go!

I snapped the inlet manifold bolts on my ST24 re-using them.
But im going rather anal on the colorcoding front so was looking at geting anodized or coloured versions of the correct bolts.

You will strip the threads on the head or inlet long before the bolts fail and you can't see them with the cover on
Ask a simple question, never receive an answer these days
How friggin tight were you trying to get them in order to snap one?
Can't remember, but not that tight imho.
Certianny tighter than the bolts on my rocker cover which were basicially finger tight when I went to remove them.

Anyone??
I believe the torque settings for the rocker bolts are really quite low, so with an aged rubber washer, they will seem loose! Just tighten them up a bit!
Anyway - whilst having the inlet manifold off tonight, I measured all the bolts for that.
There are seven bolts on top of the manifold, and three at the back.
All of the bolts have a 12mm hexagonal head, approx 5mm deep. The bolt thread size and pitch appears to be M8 x 1.25.
All three of the rear bolts are 24mm long, including the head. The last 13mm of the bolt is threaded.
Of the other seven, two are 105mm long, three are 56mm long, and the remaining two are 36mm long (again including the bolt heads). For all seven, the last 20mm of the bolt is threaded.
I also see no reason why the entire length of the bolt shaft couldn't be threaded, if that's all that's available.
Can't help with the rocker cover bolts. They've stayed on for now!
Cheers so much for that, have some rep

I think the rocker cover bolts are tightened to something Stoopid like 3-4Nm ??Originally Posted by nuster100
