    Weight Reduction

Again, I search and come up with nothing

We all know that our cars are fat lumps, with the legnums weighing in at around 1.6T. This is obviously detrimental to performance as obviously, the more mass you have to move, the slower you'll be. After getting sassed by a very very worked GT Starlet I became even more annoyed that usual at our obese curb weight.

However, I like the comfort the VR4 offers and if I was truely seriously wanting a light car I'd buy an Evo RS or the Starlet Nevertheless, weight loss is a performance mod that I don't think is really covered on these forums.

So, what I'd like is a list of weight reduction mods that can be done. Any at all, not having to maintain comfort or whatever, just anything that can lose weight. e.g:

    • Remove Front Passenger Seat,
    • Remove Rear Seats,
    • Remove Boot Liner and Spare Tyre,

    Discussion also welcome

    Cheers,

    -- Andy

Remove ALL seats - just fit fixed race-style seat - pref carbon fibre

But car is what it is - if you want lighter faster car with 4WD/AYC, get the other Mitsubishi product...

Fold the back seats down and fill the car with helium balloons.
It's been a crazy year, But through all the damage done,
I have turned and I have learned, To make next year a better one,
    Singing Oh Hallelujah,
    Singing Oh I am home.

I ran a 1/4 mile with all the back seats removed, basically everything in the back of the car, then i ran another time on the same drag strip with it all back in, the differnce was about the same as if the weather had changed.

Keep the comfort and add more power imo

    Me, sarcastic?

Sometimes, but not on this occasion

Just a comment about a useful idea which appears to have been overlooked...
