Buy or Lease, can someone help me get my head around it.

If someone owns their own business, but does 0 business miles per year are they better to buy a car through the business or using conventional personal finance means?

Obviously, business mileage is very easy to be fudged, does the 40p per mile payment still apply to either business leased cars or personal financed cars used for business purposes?

Are their any online calculators which would tell me what it the cheaper way about this?

You are probably better off to fund it yourself. As you get taxed on the "benefit" of having the car. You wouldn't get taxed on the fuel element as long as you delare the private miles done. Which is what I do. I mostly use my own car for backwards and forwards to the office as thats classed as "private mileage" and I would have to pay a fixed sum for that (I think about 12p/mile) to the company.

If you own the car you can still claim 40p/mile which my son does. He does about 500 business miles
a month which basiclly runs his car completely.

I do the same, run my own car and just claim 40p per mile for any business use.

I run exactly the same. Vat on fuel can also be claimed back too based on engine size. 12p per mile on sub 2.5 litre and 18p per mile on 2.5litre or above
    Still here somewhere........
