WTB: Hard drives and other pc bits

Need a few hard drives for reconditioning systems. all the HDDs i have spare now are going in the bin later - toast!

Also interested in buying/'adopting' any old systems and components.

Any systems I rebuild are only onsold for the cost of what I buy them for and the cost of my labour (cheap) and replacement parts. So if I get given a computer, and all the parts are fine, I can pass it on to a new owner who needs an upgrade for free! (well i will charge for cleaning it up and reformatting, installing drivers etc).
Last system i 'Re-homed' replaced their celeron 900 with a 2.5 ghz i think. they were ecstatic! Required a new hard drive and replaced the thermal compound, charged less than $50 for the whole deal. (and i adopted their old system and am in the process of rebuilding it. )

    So anyone got anything?
    -_-

I've got newish sata drives I can sell you.

If your car was working then you could have the approx 20 spare computers in our office.

Ooo, what spec are they Brad? Anything recent (ie. not P4)?

On another note, I have some 20GB IDE drives lying around at home... I'll test them thoroughly and let you know how many I have. Also have a couple of P4 and Athlon chips around too, will see if I can test them as well.

If it's an Ultra 3 SCSI controller card and you have four spare power connectors I see no reason why it shouldn't. Oh you'll also need the data ribbon but can probably find one lying around here somewhere.

I could pay you to bring them down?

Don't know where I'd store them though lol. Computer wall!

Sounds good, i have a couple of empty 462 boards (well one has a possibly cracked duron, is picky about when it wants to boot and doesn't boot at all in a known working board) and spare p4's are good to have as replacements if i get slower compatible systems (eg celerys)

Empty cases are fine too as i have more boards than cases at the moment.

Any am2/am2+ boards around? I have 2 am2 cpus spare.

Oh and if anyone is looking for any old hardware i have a stack of k6-500 boards and sdram that i don't really want to give out as a proper system but somebody may need the parts. Or they will end up being a NAS/slow-ass render farm..

Chuck Linux on the K6-500's along with 2 NIC's and you can set up a firewall shouldn't need anything more grunty than that especially if you aren't running a GUI...

Nah, better for you to take all the machines mate and put them to a good use - I get told off enough for having a server, spare computer, monitor and other parts lying around

In this case your SCSI controller needs to have 68 pin connectors (SCSI 3) otherwise I have a ton of controllers lying around at work...

No bother, I've an Intel i960 controller with 64 or 128mb which you can have. You still need the ribbon cable though which I may or may not have...
