    Body shop for respray wanted

I'm basically toying with the idea of changing to a deep rich red colour (similar to the M-spec BMW cars) or a titanium grey colour like the Honda Accord. At the moment, all I'm looking for are bodyshop options so I can call up and get quotes and timescales etc. Ideally somewhere in the Midlands, but if the work is worth it, in terms of price/quality etc I am happy to travel to drop the car off for however long it takes.

I've had some respray work done previously on the car and if you have seen my car recently, you will know how crap of a job it was. I got what I paid for, basically.

So does anyone have any recommendations of good bodyshop/respray places that I could use?

Also, colour scheme recommendations welcome, but keep them simple as I am not going for anything outrageous. Also keep in mind that the wheels will also be refurbed at around the same time to a dark grey colour (to hide the damn Carbotech dust) so it must fit with that.

Atik you know most of my thoughts on the matter HOWEVER expect to pay 3-4K for a *good* full respray. I'm sure you are aware of that anyhoo.

Just a shame the bodyshop I use will not do a full respray .

iv found a very good bodyshop

he is in cardiff mind, i got a quote for a full respray, dent removel and alloys for a tidy sum of £1200

now he has a good rep from a few local peeps off the local jap club for swindon,
hes done countless FTOs, Chasers, and a sora.

if you want i can get his details for you.

£1200 is far too cheap for a full on pukka respray

The guy who has the unit behind mine spent £4500 getting his IMP repainted and that was a bare metal job with him removing all the parts before going to the bodyshop - excellent results

Yup £1200 is far too cheap considering the price of decent paint and the amount of preparation that goes into it , for £1200 you would expect it to be a substandard finish and not last very long either

If you were to spray the car yourself you could budget at least £1200 for materials alone!!

Mazz i would take this quote with caution

well Atik you saw my car at the pod and Argents of Roxwell had resprayed the entire lefthand side for under £500 and our colour isnt that easy to match. (mainly cos the dentmaster guy didnt want to do it when he saw the colour so he sent me to one of there recommended bodyshops) I let you know if the paint washes off when it rains

iv seen this guys work, and you might have as well.
dunno if you would have taken notice of a black FTO with uber shinny engine at shows.
now he takes pride in his award winning car,
the only reasion dave had his car respeayed again was due to some damage caused to his body work by a tyre shelling out a bit of wire, now the tyre was about 3 or 4 weeks old.
so new bumper was needed, so he thought sod it, get the whol car done again but add in a red fleck.

i will try and get some good piccys of his car for you to see.
yes it may seem cheap but i liked what iv seen, and not just from his car, his sons car, daves car, tims car and jennys car.

I was kind of budgeting around £2k for the job and I realise there will be a difference between a £1.2k job and a £4.5k job.

Ultimately I WILL require a close inspection on work they have previously carried out to gauge if they are worthy of working on my car The way I see it is I could pay £4.5k for a shoddy job anywhere, or I can pay £1.5k for a great job at a decent place if they do good work. I'll keep my options open but this is a long term plan, possibly aiming for around Jul/Aug next year.

Mazz and Kev, if you could get me some contact details for now, that would be great

ATIK, just as an idea, i could show you how to paint your car yourself (I can paint reasonably well myself) and then you could get the finish you want, its not hard it just need LOTS of preparation and patience

    This is the idea ....

It is a BMW paint called Imola II Red. I always thought it was an M-spec car only paint but apparently it is available on all BMWs. Just imagine deep satin black door frames, roof rails and a darker grey wheel colour

Thanks to Jase for the quick photochop
