Wont rev over 4k

Just a random question..

My runaround escort 1.8 zetec used to hack about perfectly getting me to work etc (I do a few hundred miles a week and got p1ssed off servicing the VR4 every month lol)

However recently it has become a LOT more gutless than before and it wont rev over 4k in 3rd 4th or 5th.

I started with the plugs and leads, replaced them all and changed the air filter.

So whats next on the list?

And as for anyone bleats on about fords bring crap. I've driven this car for 60,000 miles without so much as an oil change! It's passed mot every year and is generally spot on. Which I suspect is a better record than most people vr4s!

they good motors !(we service 150 of em ) if the coil pack goes it usually misses its tits off , i'd go for the cat !

Maybe the distributor if it has one. That happened to a car I had once.

I'll start with the cat and move on from there. I don't want to spend loads but at the same time this car is bl00dy useful as it saves me buying shares in shell!

Yep I'd start with cat. Take cat out and look inside if you can see through ythe honey comb it is ok if not it is foocked.
To repair just take a broom handel. And hamer the **** out of the inside and it will all come out after a lot of hammering.
Replace and drive. It prob will not get it through next mot but then you can look at a new cat. (I'd go for a dog myself)
