    Stereo Connection Problem

    Hi,

I have a 96 Legnum VR4 and ave just put my new Sony head unit into it...the last owner chopped out the wires so it took a few hours guessing with the wiring! After getting it all wired up an working the following occurs:

Turn the car on and the stereo runs no problem, change out of 'P' and it starts flashing like power is being taken from it and then it just doesnt work. If you stop like at the lights, it comes back on!

    Whats up???

    Cheers

Some cars have a line which comes active if you are moving to turn off a tv or whatever when the vehicle is moving.

I wasn't aware that the VR4 had that?? But then i've never bothered probing beyond the standard connectors.

However if this did exist and you've used that particular wire as a power source then this would cause your issue

Are you sure that you have the ground right? You might have accidentally used the wire for the handbrake signal as a ground.

Perhaps get a new wiring loom connector block from Halfords.

Connect the wires to one side of the block manually (like you have done now from loose wires to stereo) and then plug the other end straight into the back of your stereo.

This should suss out the hassle in case you've mis-wired one of the leads.
