    Stealerships - Auckland

*phones Andrew Simms MMC parts department*

    MMC: "Hello Matt speaking

Ryan: "Hi Matt, it's Ryan calling - do you have a minute to check the price of 5L of SPIII please?"

MMC: "Sure, just hang out a minute and I'll find out for you"

    Ryan: "Okay, thank you"

    *waits*

MMC: "That will be $74 ex gst"

Ryan: " Okay so just to clarify that's $74 and then you add 12.5% tax to get the total?"

    MMC: "That's correct"

    Ryan: "Thanks, goodbye"

    *click*

I tried to remember what wintertidenz was quoted when he rang around because I'm sure that that figure was similar to what was quoted to me initially the last time I checked, yet Dan's figure was somehow less?

Anyway so I decided to phone Simon Lucas over on the shore. These are some crowd who after servicing my steering rack, did not tighten the wheel nuts on the front wheels properly which resulted in one falling out and thus drawing my attention to the problem (finger tight anyone... Jas, you? )... Needless to say they received a royal bollocking from me about it. The reason I mention this little tale is that after that incident I told myself I've never go there for anything again.

I couldn't help myself - so decided to give them a call...

    MMC: "Simon Lucas, Trish speaking"

Ryan: Hi Trish, it's Ryan here, please may I be put through to the parts department?

    MMC: "Going through..."

    MMC: "Parts - Scott here."

Ryan: "Hi Scott, just wondering if you can check a price for me on 5L of SPIII please?"

MMC: "I can do it for you for $64 inc GST"

Ryan: "Really? That's great because the crowd in Newmarket wanted $74 ex GST"

MMC: *Derisive laughter* "Jeez that's insane mate, as said I can give it to you for $64".

Ryan: "Great, I'd like 15 litres of that plus an ATF filter please" *quotes part number*

So, I now have 15L of SPIII and a trans filter sitting in my lounge all for $230.72 Newmarket works out to $249 (inc GST). Now maybe the guy at Newmarket quoted me the wrong price but that is definitely what I heard and confirmed.

So if you need new ATF in the AKL area, Scott would like to hear from you. He (and I quote) "... likes deals, mega deals"

With Mitsi dealerships they have an RRP price and then they have a 'dealer/trade price', and then a price anywhere between the two a parts person could quote you, depending how he/she is feeling on the day and how much they like/dislike you.

When it gets to the point where the parts department know you by a first AND last name basis and they're all familiar with your 'fleet' they'll generally give you the trade price all the time. takes a wee while to get there tho haha.

But I guess the moral of the story is, it does indeed pay to shop around.

Ryan, you noob - you forgot to quote that you're a ClubVR4 member that's how you get the low price... think I got it for just under $50 for 5 litres.

Fuel - not always the case, the parts will have a slight discount but the labour is way less... I know Manukau Mitsi very very well from my old car about $10k of repairs through them to get there though!

or if you flashed your C cups?
If I'm replying to your thread and helping you out, it is because I like you and want to help out your VR-4 ownership. No other reason
