Actually quite the opposite. These numbers have been generated by precisely that - real world tests that are conducted and documented by the manufacturer.

In the mid to late 90's, when most of the numbers on paper were doctored to make them look better for emissions etc.

In fact, more specifically, the numbers in question document the exact, artificial conditions that you're comparing (i.e. straight line, low speed acceleration).

That said, in a REAL WORLD test, I don't reckon theres a gnats chuff of differnce between the three cars on the road...and possibly on the circuit.

At the age these cars are, the differences in performance are more likely due to the original factory state + a life times abuse / love, than anything to do with what model they are.

Where did he ACTUALLY say this?

By that he is saying the 7G is a really slow car and is insulted that i say the Legnum isn't as fast as the 7G .

I'm going to chip in here and say that numbers on paper are generally PEAK figures, and don't show the whole picture. For example, it may be that the PEAK power of the 8G is in fact greater than the 7G, but the 7G may have a better AVERAGE power across the rev range. Also, there is other differences to take into account. For example, the gear ratios (I don't know how these compare, just putting it out there), and the fact that the 7G has a variable length runner system which SHOULD enable it to have more area under the curve on a power graph.

To qualify, I'm not in any way saying that one car is faster than the other, I'm just bringing to peoples attention the fact that peak power figures mean nothing when there are so many other variables contributing to the speed of a car. (Also, I'm ignoring the 0-60 times etc).

    There's a simple formula here.

I think you might be taking a large leap of logic there.

I wouldn't think so, if he had said "yet that somehow an 8G Legnum VR-4 is suddenly a slower car", then it would be a leap of logic.

But he said a "really slow car" which logic would dictate that he assumes the 7G is a really slow car.

    That's more inference than logic.

If someone infers something, then it's logical to say that's what they mean is it not ?

I was meaning that you were inferring something from his statement.

Well, to me he is inferring that in his statement.
