The 6A12 I've seen (from a 7g, not an fto) has a one piece steel sump, i.e no sandwich plate.

I know that is what you mean, but if you are planning on using the alloy part (or samwich plate as you call it) from the 6A13 then it won't work if it has no kink in the block.
Also, the tin part of the 6A13 one is very small, so the 6A12 tin sump won't bolt to it either. Though without seeing them to compare i'm not 100% sure, the fto one may be different.

well heres hoping for the best then ae dude?? will kep informed
ok well a 6A12 Mivec 4Wd Drivetrain is Born!! YAY
after spending the day at Geartech Cleaning the gunk i pre-assembled it all together late this afternoon. and it fits,no problems at all!!!
so now i await a Clutch(new or used im unsure at present)
i prepped all the controll arms, breaks, hub carriers, rotors, calipers etc for painting today and polished up the front rotors wich look really good now..
have decided all the brakes are going silver.
Polished the Subframe.... well started bout 85% complete, does not look too bad tho!!
so atleast we know the sumps and blocks on a 6A12 and 6A13/13tt are ALL the SAME.....
So you are using a full ST-R exhaust, or Mivec headers and ST-R downpipes? You are also using an ST-R manual gearbox and transfer case aren't you?
If I'm replying to your thread and helping you out, it is because I like you and want to help out your VR-4 ownership. No other reason

Must have something to do with the orientation of the engine. Looks good though Q.

The exhaust you have will be made by Fujitsubo. Ryan was just being a little pedantic and funny.

nice work,
you done anything to protect that polished sub frame from the elements?
thanx man... um was thinking of clearing it but then if it starts chipping then it will look ugly where as its a easier job maintaining it as is i dont plan on ever taking the drivetrain out again... lol
