Driving / Spot / Fog lights

Help please! I have had a look but can't seem to find an answer (including my owners manual, although it would probably help if I knew what they are called)! I have just picked up my FL VR4 & I can't work out how to turn the outside of the twin lights. The inside ones come on with the the fog light switch & I thought the others came on with the main beam but don't. I have checked the bulbs, fuses & wires on the back of the fog light unit & everything looks ok, so I assume I am just being a little bit thick. Any help would be much appreciated.

I just tried & they still don't work so I might have to check my fuses again. Is it headlights or fog lights that have to be on whilst indicating?

OK, I will try again later. If they still don't work at least I know what to look for after having a tinker with them. Thanks again for the fast responses people.

Yep, as Gly said above. It isn't too hard to wire them in to get all of the lights coming on at once.

Barry - long time no see dude, hows it going?
If I'm replying to your thread and helping you out, it is because I like you and want to help out your VR-4 ownership. No other reason

Think some re-wiring will be my project for the weekend as they still ain't working. I would imagine I could wire them to the other lights ok but has anyone wired them up to come on with the main beam? Just think I would rather have them work in this way (unless its a ball ache, then I will go for the easy option).

Hmmmm... I've had my aftermarket front turn lamps wired 'wrong' - mine come on when I indicate regardless of the headlights being on or not! :-)

Well look who it is. You're more than welcome to inspect my Sport, on which the fog lights come on with the main beam, must be pretty much the same.

    Ps. Broken down yet?

No but if Mark doesn't have a look at it, I will dismantle it again, take pictures and ask on here. I'm pretty sure it must just be a case of the spring loaded screw being completely rusted on.

Have a look at this article on how to wire the front turn lamps from new.

You won't have to rewire yours, but the diagrams may help you discover the fault.

    :-)
