Just wanted to say "hi" from a fellow 2002 Galant V6 owner - I bought mine from Irvine.

Anyway, some one will be along soon to help you with your question. :-)

    Hi,

I havent ignored this thread either, but cant advise you as I have changed the clutch in my car which is a VR4.

Pricing would be massively different I would guess, but I paid £1000 for my clutch to be replaced (Evo clutch and lightened flywheel).

    Thumbs up

Thanks for all answers! Nice to see other owners of my beloved galant. In my opinion one of the best looking cars i could find. I manangeg to find garage that would charge me 185 for labour plus 135 for cluch so its not that bad when it comes to costs. I will try to post some photos of my dariling later on.

Thats a fair price, I'd go for it.
If I'm replying to your thread and helping you out, it is because I like you and want to help out your VR-4 ownership. No other reason

Btw i think i will go ahead with the clutch and repair it but i need to save some money first and then do it, apart from that everything else seems to be fine I have found cluch for 120 quid but there are few different kits so if somebody can chceck that for me that will be great. Hers the link:

Looks great - try and get the arches sorted before it gets worse.

I sometimes think I should have got an estate. The Galant is one car that looks as good as an estate as it does a saloon! Or the saloon looks as good as the estate!

this is my first estate and to be honest i really wasnt sure but its the right price, colour, age, spec etc so i can live with it and it is more practical than the saloon. chances are the final upgrade will be a VR4 leggie

i am surprised at the increase in insurance though. direct line insured me for £270 on the GDI. £518 for the V6!!!
the £20 membership here cut that down to £441 with Sky (FC, 9 years+ protected NCB) and some useful advice regarding the 3 day overlap with my insurance ie leave the old policy running and Sky will get my NCB when it expires on thursday

That's pretty expensive insurance on the V6 - I've got 3 years NCB and my fully comp insurance comes out at around the £500 mark, and I don't own my own house and I'm not married. I don't understand why being married lowers the premiums, surely if I was married I'd be more likely to crash arguing with my wife?

it might be due to the area. i have moved from a village to a town and although my street is quiet, there is a rough part of town just along the road. i didnt expect much of a jump considering its an estate. still, its done now and i have paid my membership for another year even though that isnt due til next month

I'm sure you'll forget the expense when you've got your hands on the V6

Because if you aren't married, you are obviously irresponsible!

Ritch's £200 price seems too good to be true, TBH. I'd have thought £100-150 for the clutch and £150-£250 fitting and oils. Find out where Ritch did his and go there!

im not expecting it to pin me in my seat but with the carbon build up on the GDI, i am expecting a smoother delivery to the wheels which im guessing will feel a bit quicker. some of the guys here have said it sounds better too. i like the sound of the GDI so i cant wait to hear the V6
