Dont be sorry I thought it was funny.
I was thinking Newcastle or Hull to Holland. Just wanted to see where Brian went.

The mighty Leedsnum has gone but the Airtrek mods will soon fill this space

I prefer to take the easiest option these days because I wouldn't "Walk a mile in my shoes". I certainly prefer to avoid the drive to Dover because "Smoke gets in your eyes" on the M25. The overnight ferry is better to "Help me make it through the night" on my way to meet "The In Crowd" in "Another time, another place". I better get organised soon because it's "Funny how time slips away". Ah, "What a wonderful world"Originally Posted by MRS HJM
I take the Newcastle to Amsterdam ferry as it's nearest (and cheapest) for me - http://www.dfdsseaways.co.uk/ It arrives at Ijmuiden at around 09:30amOriginally Posted by aboo
Another option as you're travelling from Aberdeen is the Rosyth to Zeebrugge route - http://www.norfolkline.com/EN/Ferry_...yth_Zeebrugge/ It arrives at around 2:00pm

For those up North I reccomend getting the overnight ferry from Hull/Newcastle to Rotterdam. If you get an advance ticket it's about £180 for car and cabin and gets you considerably closer to your destination than Calais. By the time you calculate the fuel cost to Dover plus the same again from Calais to the hotel in Germany and add in an overnight hotel stop, if you need one, it's far cheaper to do with less wear on the car.
As always we are here if anybody wants a place to stay before/after and if they have any issues in Germany. The workshop is still going if you need some last minute work doing.

Still here somewhere........
But timing of Hull ferry is not as convenient - 24hr journey and return are more rigid than Channel crossings...
At least that's what I remember when I checked...
Chris, that's true but I would just take an extra day off work
Yes BUT back in the NHS it's less easy to book those extra days...
And it could mean an extra day at both ends of the trip...
i had to carry over 16 days from last year's leave so one either side isn't an issue as just a suggestion for those that can do it, especially if costs are more important than leave.
I would prefer less driving...
But get seasick...
For all you guys going to Japfest this weekend. If you can keep this quite in front of the wife please.
I havent told her that I'm thinking about this yet.
If I can make it. I'm hoping to make it a surprise cause I'll be taking the whole family.
Thanks in advance guys.
