Ah! And there I was just about to welcome another member to the 'Tappy Galant' club!

Interesting that it was your fuel injectors. I'd have put money on it being your lash adjusters!

these be they!!! Basically when they get worn they can no longer do their job properly. SOmetimes using an engine flush can clean them out and temporarily cure them but chances are they need replaceing

    Hiya,
how much would this cost for the item's and fitting?

once you have new ones fitted, how do you prevent this from happening again, or is it just one of those things that need replacing once in a while.

Is it anything to worry about?

letting the oil get below halfway between the markers on the dipstick does seem to cause the tappy rattle on the 2.0. in a way its a good thing. it lets you know it wants a top up without you checking the dirty way. the 2.4 was exactly the same but this problem hasnt occured on the V6 yet even though i have had to top up

Topping up the oil at the same time as petrol refill could mean that the tappets/lash adjusters were the source of the "tapping noise" rather than the injectors.

    Question

I have tried an engine flush and oil change, using AMSOIL 0 - 30, but i am still getting the tappet noise.

When starting the car from cold, there is no tappet noise, and once the engine is upto normal temperature, it will start tapping only when i let my foot of the accelerator, and when i am stopped and leave it at idle, it taps for a short while and then stops.

I have tried to search for lash adjusters for my engine, but cannot find them. I have searched on the discount section, the seller no longer stocks them due to quality issues. Have also searched on google, but the results were not for my engine.

It can be annoying when they are intermittent - my GDI sometimes did it, but that was at over 151,000 miles.

Unless you intend keeping the car for a long time, it might not be financially viable to change them.

I now have a V6 with no tappet noise. Hopefully it will stay that way.
