Feel sorry for the poor thing!
If I'm replying to your thread and helping you out, it is because I like you and want to help out your VR-4 ownership. No other reason

The clutch, gearbox and front tyres just aren't designed for that!

Zentac is running over 600bhp thru the same gearbox, uprated clutch would have o problem and isn't as proven in The Vees car.. .. And the only time the tyres will have an issue is if theres a knob driving who doesn't know how to regulate an accelerator pedal !

It's not that heavy once you take out the V6 and the 4WD.

that's an NZ-new GLS by the looks - the manual ones weigh about 1300kgs according to the owners manual, which is actually far less than what an evo4 or above would weigh.

$5k is pretty cheap, a shame it isn't certified though.

Lovely looking car! I know of one very similar. Have come across another with an evo engine like that and he says at high speed it's even quicker than the 6A13TT VR2. Think it was dutchdriver - it was at japfest last year. To be recommended if done properly

Indeed Andy! It was (is) dutchdriver's EVO 6 TME powered Galant last year together with my VR2 at Japest.

Very cheap considering the vast amount of work that needs to be done to build an EVO engine into a Galant!

Zentac has killed a LOT of gearboxes. And while you can drive around the lack of grip at the front it will never be as good as 4wd.

It is indeed an NZ New GLS or SEi that originally came with a 4G63 engine.

Not even suggesting that Brad. But if used sensibly and understanding of what it is, then can be damn good fun

I've killed a few gearbox parts along it's life. And clutches. And pressure plates. True.

The forces are simply (just) a bit too much for the gearbox to last long as it was ofcourse not designed for this. Grip indeed will never be as good as 4WD (duh). I have both a VR4 and a VR2. Both are completely different animals in almost every aspect. But both are equally fun to drive

Well, his was used as a drag monster so there's a LOT of shock loading on the whole system. I suspect using this normally on the road will somewhat reduce the risk of gearbox failure!

Anyway, would probably be better off with an autobox...
