I haven't heard anything other than rebranding. I still use it in mine.
i dont use the 99 stuff so i switched to ESSO. same price but it lasts longer. nothing good has a tesco logo on it so i dont want their gunk in my tank

Apart from Tesco's 99RON generally being one of the better fuels on the market, you mean?
Esso don't do a 99Ron fuel, which renders them pretty useless for a VR4 owner.
you raise a good point i always get 220 to the light (give or take a couple) have done nothing different and am currently on 235 and the light has not came on yet . driving style and even driving to places is even the same .Originally Posted by hardarse
The only other thing (i was going to put a post up later actualy) is kinkyafro removed my ecu at the RR day to dyno his then replaced it again . i know the gear box and idle would have to relearn because of this but would it make that much difference ?
the way my needle is at the moment i will get about another 15 miles before the light comes on that would be a gain of 30 miles to the tank
could it be the tescos petrol of the ecu relearning or or or?
i'm with steve on this one. i frequently use tesco's 99 fuel & rate it the same as shell's stuff. esso is ok in an emergency but i definitely wouldn't use it all the time, same goes for bp too
Never had any problems with Momentum99, massive difference to Esso97! plus how the hell do Esso get away with a similar priced 97 against 99 or V-Power
Still here somewhere........
Often debated this one! TBH used the Tesco 99 couple of times and I do feel the car doesn't run quite so well, notably so on a recent run to Huddersfield and back. I never used to think much about different brands making a difference, but with this car I have found it so. For me the V-power (no pun intended!) closely followed by Total excellium seem to work best in mine
I have always felt that Tesco 99 was better than v-power! Given the choice I would buy Tesco 99. Perhaps the formula has been changed recently?
I personally rate tesco but it is far closer than any others to my house, & cheaper. Some of the pumps are labeled as momentum & others just as 99 so I assume its just a re-brand & they have ran out of stickers!
There may have been a change in formula, tesco 99 has a bio ethanol added to the petrol to increase the ron rating........ therefore you would get a few miles less volume for volume against V-power for example........ However the cost of crude oil has dropped so Tesco may be able to afford to improve it's fuel...........Originally Posted by Kryton
I only use V-power now, I used to use Tesco 99 and I found no difference in performance.......... I would happily use Tesco's 99 again it's simply down to the fact that there's a shell garage 2 miles from home now....... I have fortunately never run out or had to use "emergency" fuel..........
