    Possible front turbo problem?

Well I think I might of found the noise I`m getting on lift of and very slightly on tick over.

    Continues from this thread:- http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50304

Thats what I thought it was but now I think it`s the front turbo but not to sure?

When the car ticks over you can hear something but it`s hard to pin point where. When you rev it on or around 4000rpm then lift off you get a noise for around 3-5 seconds.

This noise sounds like an exhaust blowing when you lift off but also sounds like an exhaust heat shield vibrating around the front end.

Now I got a long screw driver (put to ear) and managed to get it on the top of the down pipe flange and it sounds like it is coming from that area.

Anyone know if it could be the turbo or actuator Etc.

I am going to have it looked at but if I have some fuel from any bods on here I`ll see if they reacon the same the garage that is.

    Many thanks.

    Thanks Glenn

Just one stupid question ? I take it you wound the actuator arm in 2 1/2 turns and not out?

Also was it a bstard to put back on as it sounds like a pig to get off!

    Yes Steve 2 1/2 turns in(so shorter)
2 1/2 on mine doesn't mean this is correct for yours.. Mine was quite a bad rattling and had been getting that way for quite some time. Can you here yours on very very light throttle at lowish speed.. Mine was that bad that i would push the clutch in while slowing at corners where there where people around as the noise was that embarrassing

I can only hear mine on lift of when I rev to on or over 4000rpm. So I`ll see how much play there is and adjust accordingly mate I think!

I did`nt hear it before just for the simple reason of the exhaust blow was shielding the noise simply because it was at the 1st flexi joint but now I`ve replaced it you can hear it.

Got to admit though bloody annoying because I spent an hour going through all my heat shields Etc thinking that it was them (Just like yourself) because that`s what it sounded like.

Glad you posted pickies within that thread dude will follow closely and do in the near future.
