    Mitsubishi Service Agents

    Hi all.

Ive decided to get some of the fluids changed on my Leggie VR4, ive not got much history with it so u can bet your bottom dollar its been a while, if at all.

The list is AYC fluid, AYC clutch fluid, Gearbox oil and all of the Transfer box and diff oils. Im capable of doing most myself but the AYC associated stuff frankly scares me!

For obvious reasons ive been to a Mitsubishi dealer and booked the car in at a cost of £320 for all the fluids and labour.

Does this seem like a fair price do we think??

You would be better off trusting the work to a cvr4 member.
Try nick Mann, nutter john or richy rich..... I know I would

Ive been to AP Motors before when I first bought the leggie. They were really helpfull, had a good look around the car and answered loads of my questions. Trouble is i'll have to take a whole day out and **** a tank of fuel to get there. Still gonna ring them though. Thanks

    Is yours an auto?

As the standard Mitsubishi dealer gearbox oil change will only drop the contents of the sump and refill with fresh stuff. That means that half the gearbox is still full of the old rubbish, and you will therefore end up with a mix of the two, which isn't much better.

Well, that makes it a lot easier!

Even if you use Amsoil for all the 5 fluids listed - that lot should come to about £100 in oils (2L 75w90 gear oil, 3L GL4 gearbox oil, 2L ATF).

Experienced garage should be able to do the AYC clutch fluid, rear diff gear oil, transfer box oil and manual gearbox oil changes in well under an hour, IMO.

The actuator part of the AYC is a PITA, but with a MUT-II/III, they should be able to bleed it through no problem, maybe 15-20 mins.

I would have thought an hour and a half tops for all five.

Yeah that about ties in with the mitsi quote, couple hrs labour, plus 110 on the fluids plus the dreaded

Hmm - well, here's another angle.

Eurospec will, for £350+VAT, *replace* the following:

    Engine oil
    Oil filter
    Air filter
    Fuel filter
    Ancilliary belts
    Coolant
    Brake fluid
    Clutch fluid
    Transfer box fluid
    Gearbox fluid
    Rear diff fluids
    Spark plugs

As well as inspect/clean a host of other items. See the 24,000 mile schedule.

I know they're too far away for you, but it's a great example. I think the Mitsi price is potentially a bit too high.

Although you might have a point on it not being clear on the website once compared with the Evo schedule.

I'm sure Ben can comment on this later if he gets a chance to read it!

Just spoke to AP Motors, umm lets just say i will be going there. More than justifies a tank of fuel and a wander around Plymouth.

    Big Thanks

People who know the car, familiar with VR-4, trusted AND value for money are worth the effort and cost of travel IMO...

Good stuff! They know what they're doing!

You'd be amazed at how many of the techs at a Mitsi dealer will look at a VR-4 and go, "What's that then?"!

there is a nice pub just around the corner from AP's. we could meet up and have a drink and a chat...that's if i can get the time off work...but i can't see that being to much of a problem.
