Check your cars recall status in Japan

I found a good link to check the recall status of your Mitsi from its past life in Japan.

Here in NZ the widely publisized recall was for the AYC/ASC problem, but apparently world wide there were many faults wid mid - late 90's Mitsi's.

By following this link to Mtsi japan's site you can enter your chassis number to check what was recalled and repaired on your car

    http://babelfish.altavista.com/babel...p=ja_en&intl=1

I've linked it through bablefish so its translated into english, the normal URL is:

    http://u-cfc.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp...ecallstatus.do

EDIT: This is now the correct link: http://recall.mitsubishi-motors.co.j...ecallstatus.do

So I could see mine had been recalled and rpaired for the front lower arm recall, the AYC.ASC one and something else about fuel tank.

    Number Contents Classification Notification day
    (Target date) Execution circumstance
1 Front suspension of 3 models such as 繧ョ繝」繝ゥ繝ウ and 繝ャ繧ー繝翫Β (the lower arm) about Recall 2003/11/20 Work performance end
2 About ASC of 繧ョ繝」繝ゥ繝ウ and the 繝ャ繧ー繝翫Β VR-4 series Recall 2001/11/08 Work performance end
3 4 models such as 繧ョ繝」繝ゥ繝ウ and 繝ャ繧ー繝翫Β (the 4WD car) about the fuel tank Recall 2000/07/26 Work performance end

    Hmmm...

Ran my chassis number and got the following...

1 Front suspension (the lower arm) Recall 2003/11/20 Job unexecuted
2 About ASC VR-4 series Recall 2001/11/08 Work performance end
3 4 models suc fuel tank Recall 2000/07/26 Work performance end

So, my guess is that both fuel tank and ASC have been repaired prior to export and that the lower ball joint may well still need repairing. I did quizz the local garage regarding recall issues and the guy said to phone back up with the chassis no. and he would check the database.

Me now thinks, printing off the page from this site and taking it with me would be a good idea...

    Cheers for the Link!!!

my dealer now recognises that the car needs various recalls- both lower suspension arms need replacing, brakes need done etc, all he's trying to figure out now is who's going to pay for it. It seems misty uk won't so he has to authorisation from mitsy japan

Call me thick, but I can't seem to get an answer for my car. Am I putting the number in wrong, or doesn't this cover UK cars?

My sentiments too Pieboy, ran mine-- fuel tank done in Japan only balljoints to do, no other recalls affect mine so Poole Mitsy were correct on this one.

    I'm Being thick I think:

1 ギャラン, concerning the blower fan airflow control control equipment of レグナム and アスパイア recall 2005/04/12 job unexecuted

2 ギャラン, concerning electric wiring around the engine compartment of the レグナム VR-4 series recall 2004/06/30 work performance end

Front suspension of 3 models such as 3 ギャラン and レグナム (the lower arm) concerning recall 2003/11/20 work performance end

4 ギャラン, concerning ASC of the レグナム VR-4 series recall 2001/11/08 work performance end

4 models such as 5 ギャラン and レグナム (the 4WD car) concerning the fuel tank recall 2000/07/26 work performance end

So, but that little lot, do I presume that items 2-5 have been done ('performance end'?) and Item 1 to do with the blower (which was only discovered in April of this year?) still has to be done?

    Yeah, awesome link dude, thanks

Looks like I've got the Blower fan and Front Suspension work needing done.
Also, seems from the chassis no. the my car was the 25th to last pre-facelift model to roll out of the factory! Always nice to know :-)

Have any of the kiwi guys approached Mitsubishi NZ to see what their position is on this..? Are they willing to do the work?

Can someone run my chassis number through for me? EC5A-0100279

There are 4 recalls for mine from what I can see. Just no idea what status they are.
I'm getting the 'install language pack' msg, then need the XP disc in but my DVD drive is fooked.

As regards contacting mitzi uk about import recalls, will my local dealer be able to check this or is there a number at HQ i need?

    Mitzy UK: 01285 647774

Giz a sec on the recalls

    Edit:

As far as i can tell, as i am on work PC and it don't work properly with that site.

    1. Heater / Summat electrical that might catch fire.

    2. Lower ball joints.

    3. ASC.

    4. Fuel Tank Seal.

Can't tell which has been done and which ain't ? But to hazard a guess i think the Heater 1 has been done and the other 3 are outstanding.

Could be the other way round though.. 3 Done and 1 outstanding..

Don't bother with your local dealer as they don't know Jack

When you speak to Mitzy UK, mention Clubvr4 owners club and also mention the recall site and the recalls it states. But don't say it shows any being already completed.

Does this only work for VR4s or all Galants?

Put in my Chassis number, according to the V5, and this is what Bablefish translated the reply
"It could not specify the car of the customer. Now there is no error in the above-mentioned under carriage number, or collate with the under carriage number of one time vehicle inspection proof statement. Furthermore, when there is an unclear point, please inquire at the dealership of the below-mentioned "customer aspectual talks center" or the vicinity."

    Chassis numbwe is JMASNEA5AWZ000310.

It doesn't work for UK-Spec VINs. Our VIN format is a different format to the Jap one and so that site won't recognise it.
