Revised tread pattern for the better obviously, and most importantly, noise reduction. Have to wait and see Barry. Do you particularly want GSD3's?
here is a point of interest for you Barry,
when GDS3 started a decline in availability and Asym's were released, there was a ruck load of GDS3 hit the UK market from the Asia region. these tyres are still made be goodyear but they were not made for our colder climate. the rubber compound is different and harder so they are not as grippy but will probably last longer.
if you buy GDS3, ensure they have "made in Germany" on the side of them. if they have any other country name eg asian, then they are not the same tyre as you used to buy and the level of grip will not be the same.
anyone knows that have had the oppertuninty to poke a fingernail into the tread of a gds3 from germany it is very soft, if you scrape you finger nail across the tread it will leave an inprint. i would imagine the Asian made gds3, you would not be able to do this.
This is just a be careful post.
Asym's seem to be the way to go but i do not have any personsonal experience of them.
but it is after all up to you.

Bye for Now!
Cheers Dave! ill keep eye out for that, great info thanks!
okies, the V2's have been orderd, woooweeewoowaaa (best borat impression)
Hopefully the V2's are better than V1's.. Although the Asym V1's are a good tyre. I still don't think their a match for the GS-D3's.. Nothing i have tried since the GS-D3, has inspired me with so much confidence as they did. Fingers crossed on the Asym V2's
Although i'm not caning the assimetric 2's yet Barry, as they are not run in, the turn in feels a lot better so far. No wet roads yet!!! Will be interested to see what you think? But to be fair, new tyres need to wear in.
Indeed Graham, will provide a full report once they worn in and tested
Oh, im so excited.....
Incidently, what pressure do you run yours at?
Happy boy now! Do you know what, i got a bloody puncture exactly a week after fitting them on. I got to work on Thursday, and my mate said your back tyre looks a bit soft, i said eff off. Had a look, and it was very soft. So i took it in the workshop and found 1/2 a drill bit stuck in it. So had to repair it!!!
Out of interest, what was your final price fitted for these tyres Barry ?
anyone know what the treadware rating is for the GDS3 is it should have it printed on the side wall
higher the number = harder the rubber compound = less grip = last longer.
NanKang NS2 treadware number is about 340
dunlop Sport maxx treadwear 240
Goodyear eagle F1 GDS3 (made germany type) treadware ???
Goodyear F1 Asym 1 ???
Goodyear F1 Asym 2 ???
Track day tyre ???
Goodyear eagle F1 GD(made germany type) 200
Goodyear F1 Asym 1 240
Goodyear F1 Asym 2 ???
Track day tyre: : Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 180
.........................Toyo Proxes R888 i think are around a 100, but don't quote me

treadwear asym 2 300. Incidentally, i paid £376.80 all in for mine because of my job, and i fitted them myself so i know it is done properly, and balanced to within 3 grammes instead of the normal 5 grammes.
I know the stock VR4 tyres are 89V whihc is understandable based on the environment the cars were destined for but what is a suitable rating for the likes of mine where high speeds are common? The last set were 94Y XL rated and I'd like ot stick with that but there seems to be a shortage of the Assymetric 2 in my size and rating. There's plenty of 91Y available at the moment and I don't know if it's really worth waiting for more XL ones at the expense of my winter tyres. Is there going to be much difference in the two on our cars?

I don't want to do the granny sucking eggs thing, but i thought i would point this out.
The XL (eXtra Load) were primeraly for estate cars that were going to carry heavy loads as the side wall of the tyre are thicker then the same spec tyre without the XL on the side. However these will give a harsher ride as the tyre wall will not flex as much as the non XL.
It is a personal preferance.
