    Brembo brake squeal :(

Well still getting shed loads of brake squeal which is almost destroying me driving the car as it is that bad.

Done a lot of searching on here and it seems to come down to what discs and pads your run.

Calipers have been rebuilt but do have all the pads sliders on the bottom missing. Still trying to find some which is a pain in the arse so it looks like i am going to have to make some.

Also its running nippon front discs and mintex pads.

Does anyone else run nippon front discs and have no squeal?

Don't want to spend out and get new dba discs with ds2500's if it won't solve it.

go and re bed them in!

six stops, first one from 60-10mph then 70-10mph, then 80-10mph, then 90-10mph. i usually do the 90-10 a further two times but have heard others continuing into the three figures.

If your still getting squealing after than then i would be very surprised!
    Still here somewhere........

Don't forget the cooling off period between each 1

And if you have to come to a stop ? Don't keep your foot on the brake, as the discs and pads will be hot and can cause hot spots on the discs. This will can cause brake judder/vibration..

They are well bed in believe me but it always comes straight back. lol

I have to stamp on the brakes to make them not squeal so i have been using them hard as described.

I will give it a go though lol. Next thread will be brakes are on fire

The cars has done a track day with these brakes so i have removed the pads and taken the glaze of them. Also given them a real good clean up as the copper grease had boiled and turned to glue

Also all new stainless shims all rounds

Try a lithium based grease instead of a copper based one and you should see better results

I've the same problem with Mintex 1166 pads. Apparently, I've bought same Mintex pads for Lancia Brembo brakes and those pads had rubber like layer on a back. No squeal at all.
I was told on Polish Evo forum that there is some silicone-like spray to build that layer of padding, can't remember brand and name.

Similar problem on my side, I use Camskill budget discs and pads. They will squeal when your first hit on the brakes is not hard enough. They won't, if you use the brakes like they were developed for -> hard braking

my brembo had no squeal going forwards but did on ocation in reverse.

when i took them off while breaking my car i hve found i have 2 anti squeal shims behind each pad. one full size one that was quite well stuck to the back of the bad by the gunk brembo put on there and a second triangle shim that covers all of one piston and half of the other.

i don't know if that makes the difference or not, but it is worth a try for the priceof a second set of shims.

also the chamfer on the pad might make a difference as it has a difference on the leading and trailing edge of the pad and these are brembo branded pads.

this has been discussed in other threads.

I forget which member wrote it but there is a great guide for curing the squeel on the lanccerregister. Steer clear from copper grease and use cera tec made by mintex. You can get it from camskill/ebay, much better at reducing noise

I had awful Brembo squeal on my old Facelift VR4 with Carbotech XP8's. Took them out and fitted Mintex MDB2592 (Recommendation on MLR). Cheap as chips low dust and adequate for fast road work. I did use on track as well without any issue. Most importantly..... silent.

I've got some of the alloy based race grease which i will try out but I cant see it making a real difference.

Cheers for the info on the extra shims as i remember now when i done the disc's on pads on my evo 6 that they had loads of shims

Pads have a good chamfer on both sides.

Crazydriver : Exactly what mine are doing. Use them hard and they are fine but use them as a road car and they are terrible. lol. I have mintex pads which cost a fair bit so i thought they would be a little better then budget pads.

I seems the pad choice makes a big difference. I might just get some brembo pads and the extra sets of shims plus to make sure they have that rubber coating on the back.

Cheers for all the help guys. GREAT FORUM FOR INFO

I use mintex, cant remember what compound but heavily metallic and they squeel like a slapped pig every time, i did how ever just buy some bendix heavy duty pads (evo 6 calipers) and BNT did sell me some sticky rubber squares to stick to the back of the pad called anti squeel shims, i will update with results on friday after i take my metallic pads out after track day.
the rubber things kind of look like those anti slip cellphone mats that cruddy car shops sell but much more heavy duty material.

I tried the bedding in process last night and it made no difference at all

Going to take a look at those MIntex MDB2592 pads to see if it will help.

Yes, evo 7 are the same. 5 to 9 all use the same pads and discs. When you can afford it, buy performance friction discs and pads.
