    "noisy trush bearing"?????

    hi there im looking at buying a 53 plate galant estate 2.4 gdi, with 147,000 miles on the clock and the owner has put that it has "noisey trush bearing" but will last the life time of the car. is this a spelling mistake??? is this a big problem or what does it entail??? hope some one can help

    Thrust bearing.

    I have seen the ad. Nice leather interior!

    The issue is almost certainly the input shaft bearing on the manual gearbox. It could last a long time, or fail quite soon.

    is it a new gear box jobbie or is it a new part and labour at what cost ???

    It should be fixable, TBH. I would guess £500ish depending on who does it/what needs doing and how well it is done. Box in/out will be £200ish, plus bearing(s) plus labour to strip and rebuild the box.
