    DESCRIPTION:

Time for a new advert, with some new pics!

For sale is our Mitsubishi RVR Hyper Sports Gear R. This, for the uninitiated, is a mini-MPV that came out of the Mitsubishi factory with the Evo III 4G63T engine. Also, being the manual gearbox version, comes with the larger TD05-16g turbo.

    Standard equipment:

    - Full-time 4WD
    - Rear LSD
    - Front mount intercooler
    - ABS
    - Power steering
    - Electric front windows
    - Electric folding mirrors
    - Recaro seats
    - Split, tilting, folding & extending rear seats (form a bed)
    - Sliding door on nearside
    - Central locking
    - Climate control

    Additional/upgraded equipment:

    - 2.5" turbo-back (including decat pipe) stainless steel Aero Exhaust, with 3.5" tail-pipe (December 2009)
    - K&N panel filter (December 2009)
    - Exedy slightly-uprated organic clutch (March 2010)
    - Toad Ai606 alarm (October 2009)
    - Fully retinted (i.e. old rubbish removed and new film professionally applied) rear windows (March 2010)

    Recent work/servicing:

    - Completely undersealed (October 2009)
    - Rear diff oil changed (October 2009, with Amsoil 75w-90 Severe Gear Oil 75w-90)
    - Manual gearbox oil changed (October 2009, with Amsoil Manual Transmission Fluid (GL-4))
    - Front brake pads replaced (December 2009, with EBC Red Stuff pads)
    - Cambelt (March 2010 ~ 38,000 miles)
    - New clutch, skimmed flywheel (March 2010)
    - Transfer box oil changed (March 2010, with Amsoil Severe Gear Oil 75w-90)
    - New track rod ends and front anti-roll bar droplinks fitted (June 2010)
    - Accessory belts, i.e. Alternator, PAS, AC (June 2010)
    - PAS pump replaced (July 2010)
    - Air conditioning condenser (radiator) replaced, system checked, serviced and regassed (July 2010)
    - Alternator refurbished (August 2010)
    - Engine oil & filter (July 2010, using Amsoil 0w-30 and Amsoil EA20 filter)

We purchased the car in September 2009 with 33,000 miles on it - this is the true mileage, as the speedo AND the odometer were converted to MPH/miles. There is one previous owner listed, although that was actually the importer we purchased it from, Goodmayes Motors in Purfleet. Goodmayes originally imported it summer 2008. The car was stored during that time in their two-storey warehouse showroom. So, whilst technically the second owners, we are the first 'true' owners.

The car has been looked after, and only taken onto the track on two occasions, two sessions at Mallory Park in October 2009, and Japfest at Castle Combe in May 2010, and also taken to Santa Pod for JapShow finale in October 2009 and JapShow in July 2010. Due to being taken on track, we have ensured that the servicing and mechanicals have been maintained in top condition.

The stock oil cooler failed internally earlier this year. The stock oil cooler is a sandwich-plate style cooler, sitting in between the oil filter and engine, through which a line of engine coolant runs. this meant that some oil (approx 1/4 litre) entered the cooling system. The cooling system was initially flushed and refilled with coolant. The oil cooler has now been bypassed (coolant lines blocked). It remains in place however, due to the configuration of the system (i.e. the centre post onto which it sits followed by the oil filter would need to be replaced with a shorter one), but is now redundant. With this in mind, I installed an oil temperature gauge to monitor the temperatures - normal road driving resulted in oil temperatures between 85C and 95C. The track session at Castle Combe got the oil up to a perfectly acceptable 130C at the end, although within half of the cool-down lap, was down to 110C (i.e. in about one minute). This is also backed up by Mitsi later deleted the cooler from this engine.

    As for some figures, well:

    Power 250PS: (factory)
    Stock boost: 0.8bar
    0-60: ~5.0 seconds
    1/4-mile: 13.8s@94mph (@1.0bar into a headwind!)
    Economy: approx 25mpg

So, we don't really want to sell this car, but seeing as I joined the ranks of the great unwashed, we can't keep this as well as the VR-4. It is truly the most fun I have had in a car of ours. It's a mini-MPV with a sliding door, wheel on the back and seat that fold down into a bed, but will also despatch most things on the road. It leans, but grips. Very, very rare (I believe that Hyper Sports Gear Rs are numbered in the single digits in the UK - much rarer that the Sports Gears or Super Sports Gears, which are pretty rare anyway).

It has a ridiculously great value price tag of £2,500. There will be a stereo fitted, but not the Pioneer double-DIN item currently in residence. There will be no boost controller or gauges fitted. External pictures are shown, with some close-ups of the paintwork to try and show how ridiculously good a condition the paintwork is in. Interior pictures will follow, once I succumb to the date with the Hoover. However, I have provided some pictures of the underside, brake pads and new TREs/droplinks.

    Interior pics?
If I'm replying to your thread and helping you out, it is because I like you and want to help out your VR-4 ownership. No other reason

    Nev,

Do you know what core car these are based on? I am wanting to work out if we could get LHD lights for it
Would you be interested in a well looked after Delica as a P/X deal?

@ Brad, not sure if Nev has taken the interior pics yet. He has housework to do whilst i'm not here (i'm a harsh but fair wife, if he does the housework - he gets to go out and play, ). So he may not have had the chance to take the interior ones, especially as he's wanting it to look all tip top (minus the childrens things). He's out playing pool - not sure how long he will be. No doubt he will advise at what stage of the picture taking he has got to.

Lee - it's the Space Runner. I believe made the same years 1991-1997. Unfortunately, we have no need for a PX!

    Brad - she's right!

Nev, no probs it just meant we could drive both ways.....so where's the nearest airport?

A Space runner should be easy enough to get bits for, I think I found them already as a pair for 100€.

Heidi is interested as she wants something a little quicker than the Delica and with a manual box. Can you tell me what wheels fit and do you have the original SVA cert for it? I'm fairly certain it will be even rarer in Germany than the UK, even rarer then the VR-4s are now!

All 5x114.3 wheels with a 35-40m or thereabouts offset will be ok. In short, the same as a Legnum or EVO

Yes, I had the Evo IX FQ-360 wheels on it!

I don't have the original SVA, although thinking about it, as it was over 10 years old as at import in 2008, it would only have needed an MoT. It already has rear foglights.

You're right, mine only came over on the MOT and then gets a local MOT equivalent once registered. I have 7 spare VR4 wheels so I can put winter yres on them and fit them.
BTW is the rear foglight on both the bumper lights on these?
