Differences between Type S and standard Legnum VR4

Please could anyone tell me the differences between the Legnum VR4 Type S and the standard Legnum VR4.

I am currently looking to bid in a japanese auction for a 1996 VR4 type S but just wondered what the 'S' gave me over the standard.

Also it comes with a TV, as it will be a fresh import will it work over here in the UK?

    Cheers

    Paul

The TV is a MMCS. Do a search for 'MMCS' and you will learn more than I am going to type. It seems to be very expensive to convert.

Type S means you will have AYC and slightly wider tyres. The other option is type V, which doesn't have AYC. There may be minor detail differences as well, but nothing else major.

Check the resources tab up at the top, have a look at the buyers guide and specifications etc.

Better to look at http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/mitsubishi/legnum/ as the info page on clubvr4 is a little lacking in some areas (then again so is this link). I'd go for a '99 or '00 MT5 Type S. But that's just me. The '98+ models have a wider sort of body kit thing going on, fatter wheels and a different rear end. If you can grab one with recaro's and momo steering wheel. Try emailing ian@sbtkk.com for importing one, he is familiar with them as he got me myne. If you go for the MT5 Type S be prepared to wait a while. It took me 6months to get one as they are rare. Only 3 came up for auction in that time, and only 1 of those had recaros and momo. You can, see my car here http://www.giantfriend.com/newCar.html . I really must get around to putting some better pictures up
I wouldn't really bother with the TV option thing, Just get a setup when you get it. Because then it'll definitly be what you want, and you won't have to learn japanese. Alternatly you could get one from an old wrecked mitsi.

    Cheers,
    Matt

    Thanks chaps for the help.

Ive decided to give this one a miss this week as it had no recaro seats and sounds liek the TV is not worth bothering about.

Hopefully one will come up in next week auction and then i can become a fully fledged member of the legnum club!!!

    Cheers

Kieran will tell you the MMCS is fantastic! I am not convinced.

The recaros were only fitted to the facelift models (different tailgate on the legnum) which was launched towards the end of 1998. Therefore the 96 model you were looking at stood no chance of meeting that criteria!

Good luck in your continued search.

Odd http://english.auto.vl.ru/catalog/mitsubishi/legnum/ lists Type V's 98+ as Auto only.

According to this information, in 1998 there was no model(VR-4) with manual transmition... ozey:

    I think it's a mistake...

I read that some VR-4s were converted from Auto to Manual in Japan and they thought they were safe from the ASC/Brakes recall, and weren't.
We work to live, and to live is to drive a VR-4, around corners at speed. But it costs see here
