Angry Legnum tow van project has started

As the header suggests, I'm finally getting around to converting my first legnum track car to a tow van.
Yesterday we eventually got it into the garage, and "roberto" got his almost new front struts and springs.

Heres the first photo, and hopefully There will be more as I progress.

Damn, this new setup wont upload my photo, I have it in my pictures, but its not in file upload manager.
    HELP

That help is a cry for HELP, how do I overcome this problem.

This is going to be a much bigger project than I thought it would be.
This evening I removed the entire front suspension and one of the wings.
The steering shaft wont seperate from the rack, its simply male into female spline at the base of the shaft, so maybe the angle grinder is the way to go.

I'd like to put up a photo record as I go, but the new system wont allow me to uplift photos I've taken recently.
It appears the uplift file manager copied the 127 photos I have on my pictures file and wont recognise any I've taken lately.

Can anyone explain how I can include current photos into the uplift file manager.

The steering shaft should come off without an angle grinder. From memory it splits inside the cabin and is held on with a bolted clamp like thing.

Thanks Scott, I have the entire dash out so visual access is unlimited.
I cant see a clamp you speak of.
The spline joint I refer to is just above where the shaft meets the steering rack.
I suppose if I could uplift photos I'd explain better.

Woohoo, I managed to get a photo uplifted

Thanks Nick, I tried the way explained in your link earlier, but nothing happened.
Maybe there was a lag in the system or most likely a lag in my brain.
Too late to take more photos now, it'll be next weekend before I will get at it again.
    Thanks guys.

Tommie, have you unbolted the plastic/rubber shroud that forms part of the firewall around it? I think its inside that.

That's the one. I think you CAN see the join from the inside, but you'll need to be upside down with your head right up under the dash.

Give me a shout if you need any extra manpower.

What car are you using on track now? The red one?

Lee you may regret making an offer to provide more manpower,
    coincidently, Roberto offered also.
If either of you are available next saturday afternoon, for 2 or 3 hours, I'd really appreciate it.

Regarding the track car, I use both the white and the red one. the attached photos will explain

Tommie, what time are you looking at for Saturday?

It sound like you have not taken the screw completely out of the bottom steering column joint, the screw has to come completely out before the joint will separate, it looks like it should separate but it will not until that little screw is removed.
    been there done that!

    Bye for Now!

How does 4pm to 6pm sound to you Rob.
I'd be happy if I got the intercooler, steering rack,
the anti-roll bar and the suspension subframe
    removed this weekend.

Yeah Dave, both you and Scott are correct.
I had a spare 30 minutes tonight, I located the clamp screw,
removed it and the steering shaft came away.
    Thanks again guys.
Ps, I'd hate to try and remove it with the dash still in the car.
    Must be a nightmare.

Next time I come up against a problem like that, its definitely the angle grinder.
I makes sense when you think, I'll be throwing most of the components away, as I go along.
    Cheers, John

    Hey Tommie, this still on?

Give me a text, the phone will be on silent, but will check it when I awake.
I'll be up early enough to watch a recording of Spurs stuffing Arsenil . . . well the deam will be that way, lets hope the reality matches.

    Update 20/11/2010
Today we got a lot of the engine bay stripped out. We are very close the sound of the 9" angle grinder.
Decided to leave in the front subframe for now, and as Roberto suggested, use it to anchor the towing a-frame.
Where the steering rack bolts on to the subframe are perfect anchor points.
Thanks to roberto for his help today, and he made it into the photos with my son Cashel, who helped also.
Ignore the date stamp on the photos, I cant clear it off the camera.
