    Definitive answer please....

    Hi all.

Ive had a scout through previous threads trying to answer this myself, honestly Im still not sure

I would like 18" alloys, excluding PCD and Bore as they are a constant, would a 8" wide wheel with an offset of 38 and a 235/40/18 tyre be the way to go??

Other options could be 7.5" wide and a 225 or a offset of 42.

My heads spinning at the moment, read far too many other threads and confused myself

    Thanks for the advice

It is tricky to give a perfect answer. Your first suggestion would probably look and perform the best, but there is a chance that the shoulder of the rear tyres will slightly rub on the arch. You can roll the arch if that is a problem though.

It will also depend on tyre make aswell.

Goodyear tyres have more of an outstep wall IE wider at the top.

Toyo`s & bridgestone have more of an inward top edge IE tyre wall is more straighter.

Does make a large difference to what PCD you want to go for to what make of tyre you buy.

    Been here done that.

The following link has been invariably useful to me, not sure if it should be a sticky in the wheels and tyres bit?

    http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp

Allows for tyre and wheel changes and will tell you the most compatible matching tyre sizes to stock.

Go for the first option, 18x8 38mm and 235/40/18 or 225/40/18 if you don't want to worry about rolling your guards.

Don't go with 18x7.5" 42mm, they will not fill out the guards as well, and look quite narrow.
If I'm replying to your thread and helping you out, it is because I like you and want to help out your VR-4 ownership. No other reason
