Probably Valmes or GOWF I'd say but they both have bigger turbos.

Neither have VR4's anymore but there are a few in in Russia running 500 plus

Eurospecs Vr4 powered FTo does around 600bhp . Zentac was around 630bhp , but both of these are fully forged

    *cough*

And maybe there should be a "past it" category for the cars that did have power but no longer exist.

And FTO's aren't VR4's even if they have a good choice of engine in them...

I beleive my result is the highest recorded figure for a 6a13tt in a VR-4 (read: 4wd) with stock turbos. It is equal to about 380-400hp at the engine.

There are a few in russia and aussie with bigger turbos and higher figures though.
If I'm replying to your thread and helping you out, it is because I like you and want to help out your VR-4 ownership. No other reason

Not a VR4 - but my V6 has 164.4 BHP on the rollers - the maximum quoted in the brochures is 161.1 BHP. Mine's stock and 7 years old! :-)

so how exactly that can be done ? Is the key on the ECU?

i am using Mines ECU, not quite happy with the result

Brad is using a Auotronic ecu , the same type of Autotronic was used in a UK car which made 345bhp at 1.2 bar (csaba's car )

Brad's car is running at 1.1 bar and makes 40bhp more on less boost and a lower octane fuel

Not unless you invest in a load of other goodness aswell!

Yep, mine made 444bhp and 500lbft on 109 octane.... but somewhere around the 412 mark and similar torque on pump fuel.

Oh........ and I still have the V5, and the car is still insured on my policy!

    IMO, should be two categories:
    1. stock internals and tubbys
    2. uprated engine and tubbys

Due 1st category: IMHO, much more interested as it involves very very big attention to a details and every ponny matter. Also quite interesting how far we can push small modifications before hit a barrier.
In 2st category: I've seen somewhere here pintouts of Ilya and Valmes and some other Russian bloke being 450+ bhp. Also, printout not attached here, but kochajj vr4 did 400+ bhp.

Shall we setup rules, i.e. standarized dyno printout, only ATW figure, etc?
It would be better to clarify our "competition".
    Ex: Galant VR4
Running 268 HP ATW and 443 Nm torque at 0.9 bar
    Now: Lancer Evolution 8 FQ-300
Running 325 HP ATW and 510 Nm torque at 1.6 bar

A very simple rule of thumb is more air = more power! if you are not modifying the size of the combustion chamber, or the rate at which you can get the fuel and oxidant in there, then you are very much limited. So, clearly if you then compress the air going in, you will have more 'air' for a specific volume and thus able to attain more power for that volume. Thats obviously where your turbo comes in. But they are also limited in the quantity of air they can flow at various pressures etc.... That is a very simplistic summary that barely scratches the surface, but its good enough to illustrate that once youve hit the limit of your tubs and engine thats it.

All the ecu allows is you to control various parameters that can provide a more optimal setup for your particular engine. It cant just make power. so the bottom line is there is a maximum for a stock engine with stock turbos no matter what else you bolt to it.... Which is in the region of 350bhp.

Swinks, if were talking dyno printouts, then we also need to think about what dyno they were done on............. a huge can of worms is all i think here!
