    new project but what?

Just picked up a silver F/l galant as a non runner and was thinking of stripping it, but decided to turn it into a project, but what should I do? Original plan was to do a total rebuild from the ground up and make it look like its just come from the showroom, then I thought about stripping it out and making it a track car, but never done a track day so probably never use it, lol. The car cost pennies so have a budget of around £3000 including new engine if needed. So what would you guys go for, original, track or ...........?

road legal track car. i have a project in mind but whether or not it becomes a reality is another matter. i want a stripped out and heavily modded VR4 which would be legal for the odd blast but wouldnt be practical for everyday use so the V6 could be kept in its current loving home for quite a few years yet

Would be nice, but with fuel prices going up, a heavy modded VR4 would be economical for everyday use, its costing me £110 a week for mine and thats standard!

At that price (£5720 a year in fuel) - get a cheap diesel or 1.3 hatchback with £2000 of your £3000. then assuming you save say £55 a week going on 20mpg vs at least 40mpg, use all these savings towards the mods and within a year you get your money back from the diesel/1.3 hatchback.
why fix it the right way first time - when excessive swearing can occour when it all goes wrong when you don't?

Now with 5.7 liters of V8 muscle

Tried that a few months ago, bought a 1.4 corsa diesel, I have an hour and half(ish) drive to work and the corsa was hard work, so the wife now uses it. Dont mind ploughing the money into mods, but would have to be set up for track use rather than everyday use.
