If I had known you were going to ship a car to the states and then struggle to get aftermarket tuning and modifying bits, you should have bought a more modern car from the UK, mine, and then you could have been even more frustrated!

It's funny I am still feeling excited, perhaps it's because I am getting closer to 400 now

I thought that tablet I took, Valium would calm me down

Perhaps I took that other tablet, I think that began with V

Sorry steveo, apologies for thread hijack, I may be asking in future for help with 6g websites, cannot help with 7g websites that you want but I may be able to help with websites that sell tablets beginning with V

The 6A12 was used in the Mitsubishi FTO, allbeit in non-turbo form. You may find that performance parts for that model may fit.

    Sorry steveo

Got carried away with my impending 300th post

Few users have a7g GVR4 but there have been a few on this Forum

I think it was 'Stangebat' that had one and there may be others to help you

tdi-plc.com is a british firm who specialise in jap tuning and may be able to help - expensive labour costs but if buying only then they do have goood knowledge of modifying jap cars but 7g like our 8g may have limited choice

    Good luck with you search

And the tablets beginning with V in my attempted humour are Viagra - hence my suggestion of excitement - english/yorkshire sense of humour?

Ok... Want some actual help then?

To date, haven't found much in the way of bolt-on parts. Some japanese workshops make suspension components etc, thats about it. That said, just what parts do you want?

A lot of parts of the 7G is compatible with the earlier EVO lancers. The driveline is identical to an evo 3, giving you a few options there if you're looking into that arena. Suspension parts from the 8G are a straight fit, I've seen Legnum coilovers go directly onto a 7G so you're in luck there.

Engine wise - just treat it the same as any other turbo car. There are NO turbos that bolt straight on, no matter what you may hear. However, getting your manifolds re-flanged is approximately f-all money anyway.

For some helpful advice, have a look at these two sites - www.msport.co.nz, and www.nzmmc.co.nz, and go to their respective forums. They are both NZ sites, (obviously), but we're one of the only english speaking countries that has decent numbers of this car.

There are a lot more tuning products out there for the 6A12T than the 6A13T

    1) JUN light weight flywheel http://www.junauto.co.jp/index-e.html
    2) Forged piston kit http://seffects.com/parts/TUSM6A12.htm
    3) Turbo upgrade kit http://seffects.com/parts/TUSMG25B1E.htm

I was thinking about dropping one of these engines into my FTO, however I went for the 6A13T instead as the 6A12T is the oposite way round.

Check this website for some 6A12TT performance parts. Use http://babelfish.altavista.com/ to translate.

Rather expensive but a good selection.
Ako, those are great times on your E84A VR4. Are they stock turbos & internals ?
    I own an E84A VR4 with a 6G72TT motor installed..so far I've only done 12.99 @ 108 mph & 13.8 @ 98 with the 6A12TT.(before the conversion)

I've been trying to find you for ages!!

Yeah, the only mods are the ones in my signature. I'm just upgrading as funds allow..

HOWEVER, since I've heard about a GTO engine actually fitting, I'm very curious. The engine has massive potential compared to the 2L... Just how hard was it to get in there?

    Tight Fit !

    Hey Ako,
It can be done. This is what I had done to install 6G72 engine, 6 speed gearbox & transfercase. I already had Haltech E6K engine management installed.
    1. Fabricate new engine & gearbox mounts.
    2. Fabricate intercooler piping & air intake.
    3. Make new axles.
    4. Driveshaft may need shortening. (cut & weld)
    5. You may need a new radiator with slim line fans. After installing engine you will see if you need to. (my old radiator wasn't any good)
    Hope I remembered everything !

Make sure you have the correct rear differential ratio or you will screw up the transfecase. ( I used crown & pinion gear from an Evo6 RS...3.307 for the 6 speed) It fit right into the original diff.
I found the car to be "front heavy" & changed the dampers & springs. (not happy with my current springs) I also own an 8G VR4 and the stock suspension is much better than my 7G VR4. trying to get my 7G to handle close to the 8G...hence my request for help on sourcing coilovers' that will work. I think with the drivetrain swap that I have added about 120lbs of weight, mostly to the front of the car.
The 3 litre is much more powerful,,,talk about torque !!!
