Hey folks needing a bit of advice. Cars doing great but one thing that annoys me. When i'm drivin along the steering get very light sometimes pulling to the side feels like u don't have any control of the car on the road. Any ideas? Cant be the trackin cos it would be wobblin all the time. Just does it randomly!

Nice car Chris. The shaking you are NOT getting is wheel balance. But if the car is pulling, it sounds like you may have a tracking problem, or maybe a soft tyre. Graham

Could be your tram-lining, as in the car is trying to follow the grooves in the road left by repeated lorry and bus traffic... I know with wide wheels it something to expect, not much to prevent or predict.... but it could be tracking, uneven tire wear.... balancing tends to give a wobble, with the track rod ends and arms you tend to get a knock.....

Tramlining is very likely. Mine got worse with wider tyres and then worse again once I lowered it. Current state of the roads takes it to a whole new level.

Yeah it does feel like tram lining, the tyres seem to be wearing evenly but might stick it in to get trackin done to be sure. Thanks for the help people!

Just seen inside the drivers door tyre size is supposed to be 215/45/17 and mine are 225/45/17 wonder if this is not helping? Dunno why the previous owners been running them!?

i would say the previous owner was looking for better grip or changed size due to price/availability at the time. personally i dont worry too much about sticking rigidly to what the stickers say. i had a rover running 195/45/15s on the front and 225/50/15s on the back. the main concern with wider tyres is fouling on full lock which isnt an issue on the rear wheels. unless someone corrects me and there are issues that i am unaware of, i wouldnt lose any sleep over it
i would go with tram lining too. the roads can make an artic jump sideways so a car doesnt stand a chance. best bet is to take mental notes of where it happens. if its regularly happening at certain places on a road you use frequently then you have your answer

225/45/17 is fine as tyres go. The width of the tyre is a lot dependant on the width of the wheel - if the wheel is not wide enough then the sidewall will be badly distorted.

I'd also recommend checking your tracking. Ask them to check for play in the rack end too.
