Its actually worse than that article, Yasi has been upgraded to a category 5 cyclone with winds in excess of 300kph, it will make landfall just south of Innisfail in about an hour(midnight our time) (which was flattened by a Gategory 4 in 2006) It expected that 500Km's of coastline will be decimated including heavily populated areas, without playing it up, they don't come any worse than this.

They have just said on one of the channels that wind speed will be constant @ 200kph with gusts to 400kph
Yeah heard that, and also a storm surge up to 6m and that's with the Great Barrier Reef helping to block it too ! They think the Reef may get badly damaged. Worst storm for over a century apparantly.

So far no reported injuries or loss of life, fingers crossed it stays this way. Mission Beach, Tully and Innisfail have been severely hammered, I think we've been very lucky ! Yasi has been downgraded to Cat 2 as it moves inland.
