    battery terminals

I have just purchassed a new battery but the positive and other cable with the positive is to short to go to the terminal ,what is the best and safe way of extending it ?

Also the jap spec battery clamp will never fit over the new battery so what is the best way of securing it in the tray ?

If your changing from a small jap battery I'm sure I had to turn the battery round the other way to get the cables to fit. The + was still short but just reached. You can pick up new clamps from Halfords.
The mighty Leedsnum has gone but the Airtrek mods will soon fill this space

There is a bit of play with the cables I just pulled my gently and made it reach if not get longer cables and refit
For the clamp issue maybe a bungie cord or get a engineering company to make you longer clamps or DIY

all i did was get two new clamps from ebay, around £4 all in, wires looked too short but had plenty of play in them. For the clamp, still haven't fitted mine, and passed the mot without it, just got a stainless bar, drilled two holes and used threaded studding. Didn't look brilliant which is why its been removed and being finished to looked good but did the job.

Bungee cords (or two!) work fine. Mine passed an MoT in that fashion! I subsequently got hold of a full-size clamp and fitted that.

The others are valid suggestions re the clamps. I got mine from Halfords, although I made sure that the terminals were the same way around as I had concerns about stretching the wiring.

will have a play this weekend and try and gain 4 inches on the positive,

wanted somthing better than bungy cords to hold the battery

the terminals are the same way round but situated more towards the center left and center right of the battery.

worse case can you extend the postive ?

if you were to insert some sort of audio fuse holder

    something along these lines

then extend from there too your battery, this will be fine.
