    Curtain Lowering springs???????

He folks, been trawling through old threads and i'm still undecided what bloomin springs to go for! First option i thought was spax 40mm drop prices at £140. Then found cheaper apex ones with same drop for around £100. Eibachs are an option too but they're quite expensive and they only drop 30mm.

Any advice or past experiences mucho appreciated!

im getting a set of 18s in may. Andy (Aboo) was a little concerned about the ride height though. how do they look with a 40mm drop?

im not getting them til japfest in may
im hoping the MOT goes well and only needs front brakes and possibly a broken spring. im not paying £70 or £80 for 1 spring when i can get a set of lowering springs for £100. a broken spring would be ideal. perfect excuse and out of the MOT budget

Andy is spot on! it needs to be dropped at least 30mm with 18s fitted. it is maybe the style of alloy ie very thin spokes but this looks awful (dont even get me started on everything else other than the alloys )

    Eibach springs are good brand...

I think overall, if changing wheels, the best compromise is 17" - for ride comfort, handling and choice of tyres at decent price...

I wasn't concerned Richie. What I ment is if your going to go with bigger wheels your better to drop the car. By how much is your choice.

I don't like the look of these cars or any car with bigger wheels on standard springs & shock. Makes the car look like there on stilts imho.

1st pic is before mine was lowered & the 2nd is after it was lowered.

I know what you mean Andy,I've held off with bigger wheels until she's lowered to avoid the classic 'roller boot' look!

Iv got 225/40/18 tyres on and I think the ride hight and look is good. Got some fresh rims ready for summer too
The back can sag with lots of weight in but got that with standard springs too, I suppose you get that with a majority of cars tho.

chris, i had apex 40mm lower springs on my old v6 sport with 18" alloys, the look was spot on but i must say the ride was a bit bouncy, i will advise to change the dampers as well!
i have now got a v6 elegance which is at std height that needs lowering,i have bought the new set of dampers (monroe reflex gas)ready for my next set of springs.
i would go for the apex springs again as they seem very good for the money and i would like to try them out with the monroe reflex shocks. when i get round to buying the springs i will post back my verdict when they fitted & tested.
