    Nice Evo Wagon

Whilst viewing the unfortunate thread regarding autoimports.com I saw this beauty :

    http://www.autotraderimports.com/7125.html

Would love to know how much it would set me back as my next car! Would need a German TÜV due to age but as long as it's stock that should be fine
Little unsure about odering from them though.

Why not just ask how much it is and ask price to ship to europe. You may be surprised. Also ask for a copy of the auction certificate in english, all cars going through the auctions in japan must have a certificate of condition and its verified by the examiner at the auction site. For example if there is the slightest ding in a panel it will be listed on the certificate.
I have bought cars directly from sites in japan, and find them quite honourable to deal with.
The cowboy element usually set up a car sales site with photos of cars at auction, but dont actually hold any cars in stock. When you ask about a particular car, straight off you will be told the one advertised is sold, but they will source another one for you.

Wonder who they will reply to first. I can just picture the conversation in the office in japan, 1st enquiry from Ireland, their ecomony is f**ked, concentrate on enquiry from Scotland.
    And they will be right.

No mate, they do an auto version (GT-A) which also has the older 4G63 from the Evo 8 whereas the 6 speed manual has the MIVEC engine and slightly more power. The manuals are a lot harder to source.

Here's some specs if interested: http://www.j-garage.com/mitsubishi/evo/05spec2.htm

Interesting... didn't know that, cheers. The AT version is also 10mm longer than the MT one, I wonder if this is to accomodate the AT or...?

And heres the reply, just taken deposit etc etc. He never had the car in the first place.
Andy, it looks like he mixed up our enquiries. first he quotes shipping to Ireland, then mentions arrival in Scotland.

"Good evening Tommie, this is Lachlan from Auto Trader Imports. Hows it going?

Thanks for your interest in the 2005 Evolution GT wagon – I have actually just taken a deposit on this one and it will be removed once the guy pays in full.

This one was GBP 17,200 FOB. Shipping to Ireland would be around GBP 800.

Unfortunately I cannot quote or advise you on any costs involved once the car arrives in Scotland – you need to check out those costs for yourself prior to purchase.

I wont be buying another GT wagon for stock as they are too difficult to move but would be more than happy to buy you a similar unit on your request direct from auction.

If you’re interested, just let me know and I will explain the process to you.

Im happy to give you a call or continue through email – what ever suits you best.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Kind Regards

I haven't had a reply so maybe he did mix it up. It is very nice but 17.2k is a bit rich for me

That price is a little over the top, especially by the time you add the IVA test etc. Would have expected around £15k tops landed TBH

here is a little word of warning
when asking for a price on a car if it is not quoted you have to be a bit careful. if he had not taken a deposit on it and 2 or 3 people enquired about the car for sale, he would immediately put a few grand on the asking price due to the multiple interest and play one off against the other. if only one of you was serious about buying the car then you could have screwed him over and made him pay more for the car than necessary.

We have the same issue at work with electronic components, we had 3 buyer phone up the same supplier for the same part due to a mix up in communication, the third buyer was quoted 50% more than the first. and when the first buyer went back to order the stuff the price ad gone up because it was not a written quote. Supply and demand! the supplier would not drop the price and we got screwed. unfortunately the were the only supplier that had stock of the part at the time.

    Bye for Now!

My tuppensworth here, was just to show how guys in Japan with a little computer knowledge and access to the auctions can set up a "car sales" company, using photos from the auctions to attract your attention. They have no need to keep cars in stock.
The car you are interested in, is always just sold or they have a deposit on it, but with the required cash deposit, they will obtain for you a similar car.
