Would this bolt up to my VR4. This feller thinks so ?

Could be a cheaper option ? or could swap the internals over ?

Short answer, no the bolt patterns of the bell housings are different.
There are ways and means, but realistically, no i wouldnt go with it.
Cheers,
Ben.
Taylor in Christchurch has done it - I think the internals are the same, but the bellhousings are different. You should be able to swap the gears over?
It will not fit on very well, the top bolts will not line up. The gears will fit into your bell housing just fine though.
If I'm replying to your thread and helping you out, it is because I like you and want to help out your VR-4 ownership. No other reason
Sweet, just not sure what road to go down so far. Either get my box reconed orrrr buy a second hand box that is in APPARENTLY good condition have it stripped and checked?
Taylor used some of the gears from the Evo box and some of the gears from the VR-4 box. I believe it was for a longer final drive?

all you have to do is swap the bell end over and one of the shifter arms. you have to bear in mind that the evo boxes have a longer final drive. hood if all you do is drags, not so good if you go on the open road.
Less a Driver of a VR4, more an owner of a pile of parts...
Paul is right
Recently kochajj did manual conversion and used Evo 6 gearbox. Two upper bolts on a bellhouse were to relocate, but apart of this almost p&p.
Ex: Galant VR4
Running 268 HP ATW and 443 Nm torque at 0.9 bar
Now: Lancer Evolution 8 FQ-300
Running 325 HP ATW and 510 Nm torque at 1.6 bar
To the top ...
And for the mount? i received my evo gearbox and i saw the mount is different ! Do i need the evo mount ??
Thank's in advance,
Saf
someone has managed to fit a evo 6spd onto our engines but they had to weld drill and tap a new mount onto the gearbox and drill and tap a new hole in the block to get it to bolt on right. if you just swa[p the internals over tayor is right but made a typo. the evos have a shorter final drive so car will have more accleration but less top speed but if you do what taylor had done and use your vr4 output shaft & final drive (higher then evos) with evo gears you can get taller gear ratios so your car will do less revs @ said speedlimit in 5th gear but still have strong acleration 1st-3rd. i am accually looking at either doing a evo 4-5 or 7 hybrid gearbox soon myself
Hey , thank you man
I bought an evo 4 gearbox and an evo 6 clutch with flywell and for now i'm on tiptro on my vr4. I would like to swap the gb not the internal . I understand that i need to drill and weld to plug the evo 4 gb because the bellhousing is different.
But i saw that the galant gearbox mount is very different and don't fit on the evo gb.
With this conversion , i'm little lost and i know that i will need to buy parts to finish my swap and if anybody have a parts , i'm ready to buy all parts that i'll need!
I made some search on the board before to post this topic , i saw the Thread with the Russian guy and the 6 speed Gearbox , some peoples run with evo gearbox , The adpateur plate from Nick etc etc ... But all thread are incomplete !
Nothing about wich axle will be good (manuel vr4 or lancer evo or ?? )!! Just saw that the inner will be schort ... If the Gearbox/engine divider plate is ok or not and if not wich one will be good and link to buy one ..
Anyway , thank's all the board it's very nice , for the moment i can't help you and can't give you any suggestion , but if anybody need help with AEM EMS V1 or V2 , it will be with pleasur to help you
Saf
PS: AEm ems and galant VR4 in progress ;D
Saf the vr4 manual gearbox mount(4 stud) is different to the vr4 auto gearbox mount(3 stud )
the plate that sits between the gearbox and the engine is different between an Auto and a Manual so you will need to source one
The adapter plate that Nick does is to convert an Evo flywheel to work with a VR4 manual gearbox and does nothing more than space out the flywheel from the crank
You are trailblaizing on this to a certain extent so will encounter numerous issues that you will need to work around

you will need the top mount from a manual and most likely the two brackets either side to go into the roll stoppers
Hi all ,
Just to inform that the flyweels from evo 6 is not good , he don't fit to the cranckshaft , i ordered an evo 7 flywheels and clutch and i will let you know!
Also , the gearbox mounts is ok from the Galant V6 Na 5 speed manua, the Manufacturer Part Number is :l MR198557! you'll need a slave cilynder from lancer evo and the Manufacturer Part Number is : MD748617
Now i need to find how i make a divider plate engine/gearbox because the divider plate on the 6a13 is very diferent with the evo 5 gearbox belhousing ....
Saf
The Evo flywheel doesn't fit the VR4 crank. That is why I made the flywheel adapter that you mentioned in an earlier post. If you have a read of this thread: http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthr...ywheel+adapter you will see in my first post what I have done and what I can sell to those that want it.
Four your information, the evo 5/6 flywheel and clutch has a smaller diameter than the evo 7/8/9 flywheel and clutch, but one system can be replaced with the other as long as the whole lot is changed.
Hope that helps a bit.
Ho..ok , if i understand , i need to buy the adapter to fit the evo flywheel ! I read your thread but i understand that the adapter is only good for the galant manual and to put a lancer clutch ...
Go for an order!!
Thank's a lot , i'll sent a pm
Saf
Yeah Saf from what I understand the crank on the evo sits more outwardly proud and the space Nick does makes the vr4 crank emulate this ofset
