Just to let you all know I wasn't on here just to sell the car I bought the car with faults to do up but had a business opportunity so had to go for it. As the things that are wrong with the car I'm a bricklayer it got MOT in feb and I had a bearing done month ago and the mechanic didn't see the faults Netti is saying. I drove the car 270 miles Saturday morning without checking oil and water as I trusted the car. Sorry but she took it for a test drive her husband checked it to. If I knew that it had those faults I wouldn't of risked my life and my brothers driving on the motorway doing in 80mph to 130mph all the way. Sorry for my rant just bit upsetting when you deliver the car drop the asking price to £2000 and didn't really want to sell

Just to let you know the price price was arranged prior to delivery, and also when i checked the oil and water there was none! My husband did not check the car, i did drive the car and noticed the brakes, and asked him if the brake fluid had been changed, his reply was all the fluids was replaced in February, by his Freind who owns a garage. So i said i would get the brakes bled, but decided as instead of just bleeding the brakes i would get the brake fluid changed to Motul 5.1.

I have only mentioned the dangerous faults on the car, i haven't mentioned the engine oil leak, diff oil, leak, and gearbox oil leak, but when the car is inspected by an independant body. I expect to have more of a list!

Nettie, I don't support dodgy dealers at all and, as my strange sense of humour has clearly upset you then my apologies.
Unfortunately my experience of South Wales makes me, too, think that there are many cowboys here and few professional traders and mechanics. It took me about a year to find the right VR4 and many miles of travelling along the way. Don't worry about buying a car from me as the 2 I have will more than likely be in my ownership until they're scrapped and I'm an enthusiast, not a trader.
Have you investigated returning the car to the dude from Swansea who didn't want to sell it and appears to have revelled in driving it at up to 130mph?
This gets more dodgy as info is disclosed. Seriously, best of luck and I hope it all turns out well and the car ends up a good one.
It's easily done but don't think that the membership and atmosphere on every car forum is the same. I know that the other forum is not a patch on this one for friendliness, humour and helpful advice. In some respects they often appear to be at opposite ends of a scale. Apologies again but I think that members generally appreciate my posts and are probably more used to my occasional crazy-assed comments. At least I hope so

No prob. I was being serious about taking it to the rolling road day in Guildford. A lot of knowledgable people will be there and many are more atuned to the car's nuances than your average grease monkey or 'performance car specialist'.
Who knows, I may even make an appearance and, as reigning rolling road barbecue chef, may whip up a few tasty treats!
Stay focused, document everything (don't forget the info in this thread) and plan your actions. Good luck with whatever you decide. On a positive note you still got a bargain at the price you paid as long as there's no serious engine problems (prob unlikely).
If I had seen this for sale thread earlier and knew someone was interested then I could have driven to Swansea and had a look on the buyer's behalf. That's the sort of thing to EXPECT from the great people in this club.

Cheers Alan, i appreciate it, but its hard being a newbie and asking people to have a look for you, if you know what i mean.

I am always willing to help people, but find it hard asking someone else to do something on my behalf!

Nettie you joined one of the best clubs on the web! So you only have to ask & you will normally get help at a drop of a hat. The knowledge found between a mixture of members on here will always sort any problems to hand.

The only problem with buying a secondhand car will always be buyer beware which doesn't help I know that's why members offer assistance. Get yourself down to Eurospec & have a chat, don't be shy.

I'm sure Chris would have time how fast he got to yours so if he had to go to yours again he could beat it
The mighty Leedsnum has gone but the Airtrek mods will soon fill this space
