How come you have the price so low ? From the looks of the car, it deserves a far higher price than £1200

can anyone help me out, i am trying to modify the title of this thread to now include the price but i cant seem to do it for some reason. is it possible, and if so how?
Hi,
I know this might seem like a silly question but i thought i would ask, do you think there is anything that it would fail on if it was taken for an MOT? would the rust have to be redone before then? also is the milage a straight 150km in miles? or what was the milage at import/conversion? Thank you
Regards Sam

My car past its MOT with this last year

It can't be that simple. Springs themselves show surface rust quite quickly on some cars. I'd guess that there is a rule along the lines of what you suggest, but there must beguidance on acceptable levels of rust.
I'd also consider this car if I was in a position to buy. The manual conversion parts alone are worth most of the asking price, so even if it did fail to be roadworthy in the next year or two, most of it's value would be retained.
MOT wise, they can poke at rusted sections to check for rust damage. They have an actual tool supplied for this. Any holes on or near suspension locating body parts, strut mount tops is a fail, heavy rust is an advisory. The rusted parts that go on the legnum strut tops are usually on the joins on the inner wing to strut part, if they can push their mot pokey stick through the rust then it's a fail. and will require welding.

as far as I am aware yes, If they scrape at the bubbled paint and see perforation, i.e. small holes, then they can fail it. If it is badly rusted but no perforation then it's an advisory.
A lot of VR4's have this prob due to age and the 3 seam thing, but if it is caught in time it can be treated, if it is rusting through from below, by the time you see the bubbled paint and rust it is too late. Just depends how bad it is.
Just to let you guys know on the law of rust around structural areas is, if there is rust & it goes through to a hole within 12"inches of any structural areas that is a fail & yes there is a tool they use for checking:-http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/Corrosi...d-Sealey-H1MOT great little tool it is too.
