    Junction box,

    Do any of you know what the little square junction box that the slave cylinder bolts to is for (i.e can i byepass it) ,i fit a slave cylinder today only to find out its the box thing thats leaking

    it's a damper unit , the ones off an evo should fit

    It can be bypassed, but I understand it changes the ease of finding biting point. And what old boy above said too!

    Cheers , i just spent 50 quid on slave cylinder that i didn't need , is there just some seals inside it or once it leaks its no good ?

    No, you can refurbish one. There should be available repair kits somewhere. Quite popular procedure in PL instead of buying new cylinders.
    Ex: Galant VR4
    Running 268 HP ATW and 443 Nm torque at 0.9 bar
    Now: Lancer Evolution 8 FQ-300
    Running 325 HP ATW and 510 Nm torque at 1.6 bar

    I took it apart today , the disc thing on top has cracked so i byepassed it and just joined the two pipes together ,
    all i can see it doing is letting off a little bit of pressure , all is fine without it ,

    Before you noticed it leaking, were you finding it hard to get into gear in the when the car was cold? Just wondering as mine is difficult cold and you reckon this box thing only releases a bit of pressure.

    ian i have the same problem, how did you remedy this. sorry to bring up a old thread but nothing else came up in search.

    I just joined the pipes together with a brakepipe fitting and bypassed the junction box ! been fine ever since !
