    New 2002 VR4 Saloon.

Well, after nearly a year away, I'm back with a new VR4.

    Pics are here:

    Number 1
    Number 2
    Number 3
    Number 4

I bought the car from Brighton Mitsi (Thanks again, Tony!) thinking it was completely stock, as did the Dealer. I get it home to find out it not only has SatNav, but also additional ICE in the form of an Infinty Amp and Speakers!

More pics and details will follow when I find a better location to take some at!

    Phil.

PS - Pete, I paid me subs where's me welcome???

What does a dealer 2002 VR4 sell for these days, if its not a rude Q!

It does vary but a Uk model of this age usually goes for around the 14k mark.

Good to see you back Phil.

So, what made you come back to a VR-4 then?

Well, in the interim period I have owned a 98 Supra TT and 92 300ZX (which I still have). I have driven an RX-7, R33, R34, S4, S3, Alpina Z roadster, Alpina B10, M5, M3, M Roadster, 350Z, TVR Cerbera and an RS6. For varying reasons, none of those cars were really what I was looking for. It was only when ReggieK was selling my old car that I decided to go full circle.

It boils down to the fact that as a daily driver, there is no other car that fits my requirements. A Leggy would have been nice, but choice is limited as I did not want to buy a grey import. I knew it was a matter of waiting before the right saloon came up again. They really are great cars, but I stress that they are not for everyone. The main gripes are - it's either too expensive to run or not powerful enough or there are those like "TabbawantsaLabotomy" who completely miss the point about these cars. For the asking price, there are no other cars that can provide comparable performance.

On the day I went to collect the car, I was offered a 2003 Manual UK Saloon with only 12k on the clock! I was sorely tempted, but after chewing the fat with the dealer I decided that it would be a Tiptronic AYC car for me!

I promise to post a few more pics when I can get chance.

    Phil

What about the Supra TT? Have been thinking about one of those for awhile now.

I get a Supra TT as a courtesy car whenever mine is in getting work done. Great fun, but a nightmare in the wet (even with traction control) - I've never been sideways so much, so often  . Surprisingly useful, it easily took two sets of golf clubs and weekend cases. I'm always pleased to get back into the VR-4, though, it is a better car .

    :rolleyes5 :Eyecrazy:

WOW!!!! That's one hell of a selection. I'm surprised the VR-4 comes ahead of the RS-6 and the M5 (and the Alpina B10 for that matter).

Very interesting to hear your reasons though. And once again, welcome back! :-b :wavey: :welcome:

Only becuase of the prohibitve running costs and reliability problems of both the M5 and RS6. M5s develop expensive issues roundabout the 60-70k mark, which is why there are quite a few for sale about that mileage. As for the RS6, well, suffice to say if I spent 60k on a car that spent as much time in the garage as they do - I'd want as refund!

The B10 is a great car but the residuals are just so bad! An 80k car is worth 30k in just two years!

As I've said above, for the price it really can't be beat!
