    DB measurement

Anyone going to japfest with a DB measuring device? No idea how loud my car is, and don't want to forefit track time if too loud.

Not sure if you have an Android phone? But if you have you can download an Decibel measuring App for it.. Probably get them for dIe Phone also if you got 1 of those ?

Don't no how accurate they are though. Spose there will be plenty of write ups on them though..

the sound level measure ment is done at compound 45 deg angle at 50cm if nemeber correctly from last year.
the angle is 45 deg horizontal and then 45 deg vetical to the point of measurment.
this makes a massive difference than just 45 deg in one plane.
i was concerend about my car failing the noise test and every measuremnet i made at a 45 deg angle in one plane only failed but when measured at the 45 deg compound angle it passed easily.
i have a DB meter and tested my exhaust on many ocations before going to japfest and my meter measured the same noise level on the day that the actual measure was which was done by the japfest noise police, once i used the correct angle.
so i would not worry about it.
if you are worried about it take some wire wool with you and you can stuff it up the exhaust pipe when you go for the noise test. just make sure you go early for the noise test and then you can do the wire woll mod and take it through again they will mark your can as tested and you can take it out afterwards, so you don't have to have it done again, just before the track session.

well that is how i think it works.

    Bye for Now!

If it's a s/s exhaust I think getting it thoroughly warmed up helps with noise...

Or am I thinking of something else...?

    I don't think it's working anymore.

    What Zorst you got Colin?

I passed last year at 99 DB. Think I was loudest on our stand for the track sessions. I have no resonators in my system just the back box. I'll be running standard downpipes this years so it should be a little bit quieter.
The mighty Leedsnum has gone but the Airtrek mods will soon fill this space
