can i ask why you are so keen on a saloon?

there is no difference in performance , mpg , or even length ,it just comes down to looks then.

you can never compare an evo to a vr4 they are 99% different . the evo will always feel quicker as its more brutal .the vr4 is a cruiser . in real world though there not that far apart. but if you are expecting the harshness and force of an evo you will be disapointed. like you i have owned one and you cant compare them

The Legnum is bigger. It is 50mm longer. And about the same taller if it has roof bars!!

Anyway - stick to your guns. If you want a saloon, you have one. There's nothing wrong with choosing a VR4 that is lacking in the looks and practicality departments!!!

    I'm only jesting

I did mean the bit about getting what you want and ignoring everyone else. The world would be a dull place if we all wanted the same thing.

When i fisrt saw the legnum several years ago, i wanted one. The paintwork was really dark possibly black and it had a cream leather interior, but at the time my budjet wouldn't stretch

Don't listen to them. Most of them have Legnum so they have no choice but favourize estate.
Anyway, Galant VR4 (saloon) is miles better with handling. Few little mods to suspension and you will get very good stiff rally car. No such nonsense like soft rear dancing on every cornering.
That plus manual version and you will be happy owner.
    Ex: Galant VR4
Running 268 HP ATW and 443 Nm torque at 0.9 bar
    Now: Lancer Evolution 8 FQ-300
Running 325 HP ATW and 510 Nm torque at 1.6 bar

Still got my Galant for sale..... ticks all your boxes and some. I also had a back problem which was operated on a few years ago. The drivers seat is set up to the optimimum position for a driver with vertibral dodgisisty - that would be included in the price to a fellow club member

Might be up for sensible offers on the car - its in the FS section just waiting for a loving owner.

just my 2 pence worth, the saloon rear seats dont fold down so all you have is the boot unless you go down the round of fitting uk spec interior .or a chain saw to the rear bench

Additionally to what Dave has just said, the UK seats from a saloon will fit, but you will to weld in the seat mounts (and suitably remove from the donor car). Can be quite a bit if work if you dont have the tools or knowhow.
1997 Mitsubishi RVR HSGR : 2.0 4G63T, 4 seats and the seating position from a truck
2009 Ford Mondeo : 2.2TDCi, 4 wheels, some plastics, some metal and some seats
