What to do?

Had my prefacelift VR4 now nearly 3 years, but in the next few months will be comming into abit of money (circa £4k), and although i think the VR4 is great i still fancy a change but not sure what to do with my money do i.

Keep the VR4 and spend abit of money on it i.e new ss exhaust, brake upgrade, new aftermarket bumper?

Buy a Gen 5 GT4 as ive always fancied one. I know its not as quick as the VR4 but parts seem to be cheaper and they seem to be more modification options & i could get a decent Carlos Sainz for about 3-4K?

Or i did have a few other cars for consideration a V70R, S60 t5, Legacy B4 saloon & Toyota Altezza.

There isn't anything in the large family car category that I would like more than the VR4 without spending a lot more than 4k.

Having said that, there qre things I would consider in other categories. A lotus 7 replica is one thing, for example and you can buy those for any money. Unfortunately I can't justify a pure play car when we already have 2 cars and a van on the drive. (plus the old VR4!)

td04 conversion for the vr4 ,will turn it in to a different car.

dont like the sound of the other cars you said.

cars i will have to own at some point are - skyline , rx7 , subaru and the gt4 ,one of these will be my choice after the vr4.

really al comes down to how happy are you with the vr4 and do you need such a big car really.

Keep the current VR4 buy another, and swap parts around to get a really good one and then upgrades.

This is the line I have been thinking of recently. I don't like the back end of the FL but if it has less miles on it & is going to last longer than my currant one & swap all the good bits but going to wait till my one dies

I was thinking that it would be good to do that as i could take my existing mods off and add them to the new one. Like you Andy i am not too keen on the FL boot light config but i prefer the front end more plus and extra 20bhp as standard.

Can't speak for the rest but the S60 T5 really is not all that is cracked up to be! Ive driven one and thought it was great when I did. This being before I even drove a VR-4! I felt it was quite laggy...I put my foot down and seemed to wait forever before I got any power from it...and when I did, it just did not give me that smile that we all crave. I remember thinking...'Here we go...oh hang on...aha here we are...oh next gear'. Then I drove the VR-4 and to me it didnt compare.

Although, each to their own, Id rather a 3ltr V6 Mondeo than the S60 T5. More power and better mpg, nice smooth gearbox too.

get some mods done rob...........maybe get a little creative......your getting the 3 year itch buddy.........pmsl.........i got it bad a few months ago...lol....and was so close to selling,but got the wheels done and re did the stripes and got the enthusiasm again....just weigh up pro's and cons of possible new car aginst the vr4...odds are the vr4 will come out on top................

So its not just me who gets that itch then DAVE lol. i have thought of doing some mods when i get back, maybee ill change my mind once i get the prop shaft sorted & fit Nutter Johns remapped ECU Upgrade, i would like to get coilovers but i am umming and argging about the price of them plus fitting circa £1k.

exclusivity, EVO power, EVO handling, reliability, practical and a friendly club for pocket money prices. why would you change to anything else? personally if i had £4 grand or £400 grand i would still buy a VR4

I would make the changes to td04 conversion for the vr4 ,will turn it in to a different car and like you said will make it feel like a new car.
