any problems fitting new tyres to just 1 side

had a bump in october drove 600 miles which wore the outer edge on the passenger side. The tyres are directional all round so I only need them for the passenger side, could this cause any problems with the 4wd or ayc?
ill be getting the tracking done and laser.

    thanks

It will cause havoc with the AYC. You may find the green bars lighting up while going in a straight line. A bit like if you are a couple of PSI down on one tyre

I suppose it's dependent on how much the difference in tread depth/wear is ? from 1 side to the other ? Also on the make tyres themselves?
If there's only a couple of Mil's difference, i can't see there being that much of a problem.

are the two remaining tyres the same level of ware and the same tread pattern/tyre?
if so.. just fit these to the front or rear, (id put them on the front, wont mess with the ayc that way)

and have two new ones on the other end.

if there not, best to invest in a new set all round, and a wheel alignment

they are directional tyres so can only be fitted on the driver side.

he could pay to take one of them off and put back on so it can go on the other side of the car.

    Bye for Now!

Why dont you get one changed round on the rim and put it on the same axle then?

In some countries it is illegal to have unmatched tyres on the same axle. As said above, assuming the remaining two tyres are the same tread and similar wear I would get those on one axle and the new ones on the other. If not I would be wanting 4 tyres.

this post says it all.. simple and cheap! then run the 2 new tyres on the same axle.

ALL tyre manufacturers reccommend new tyres to be fitted to the rear, but at the end of the day it's up to you, it's your car!

I wear my fronts slightly quicker than the rears, so I figure the ones with more tread need to go on the front so I can keep even wear. I swap them around every 5000ish miles.
