I'd be another step closer if you still had a manual leggy!

I'm not yet convinced that I want to fit my own. I am looking into getting the box professionally built. Having said that, I will be taking the box out of my car and putting it back in! I guess you can do that much yourself too, Ash.

There are three shafts in the gearbox, 2 need preload and one needs end float, as I understand it. Get the preloads/endfloat wrong and the life of the bearings in the box are severely shortened. I'm not entirely happy about doing that myself, so certainly not happy about doing someone elses!

As for timing - I'm hoping in a couple of months, but getting ten names might never happen, let alone happen soon.

2 shafts and then the centre diff. Output shaft and centre diff need preload (easy to calculate, might need to get a micrometer though) while the input shaft needs a bit of float.

If you are happy with your gear set as it is (shifts well etc), you shouldn't need to adjust anything, just use a press to move all the gears from the old output shaft to the new one and then swap the final drive on the centre diff.

    Easy

You going to ask on OzVR4?

Personally, if I know it is going to happen, I can wait until early next year. We are thinking about doing the ring trip in Easter 2014, so I need to fix my third gear syncro issue by then. I would very very very much like to get the final drive installed at the same time.

I have no issues rebuilding boxes with the same components in the same order, I have done that with other gearboxes before. However, I also thought that as my gearbox has got over 200,000 miles on it, it would make sense to renew bearings etc at the same time.

Ken - OZVR4 is a good plan, I'll sit down and work it out soon, plus maybe a new thread on here with interested parties.
