Thumbs up TCL off & check engine lights, help with ERROR CODES please!!!

    Hello everybody...

I get a TCL off and check engine light come on every now & then but it also goes off when it feels like it...

    DIAGNOSTIC REPORTED ERRORS:

TCL - Error code 77 - TCL vaccum or ventilation solenoid valve systematic

Engine - Error code 72 - Ventilation control solenoid valve systematic...

How do i go about fixing this, what are the vaccum valve solenoids, where are they, where can i get them from as it seems as if they need replacing and finally how do i replace them....

However i have checked some of the vaccum pipes etc. they seem fine from what i can see, hopefully im not missing anything...

Sorry to be a pain and thanks for all your help guys appreciate it, saving me huge garage bills already...

Open the bonnet and look for a grey canister attached to the bulkhead slightly to the right, behind the airbox. It will have a couple of small rubber hoses attached to it. Firstly you should check that all the hoses/wiring back there looks to be in good shape and attached correctly. If all seems well there you will probably need to replace the canister and black electrical gubbins to the left of that. It's a pretty simpe job and there are plenty of people breaking cars at the moment so you shouldn't have a problem getting hold of the parts.

    Good luck mate.

I just replaced the valves in mine after using some secondhand ones which only lasted a short time. i would advise just to buy new from camskill if you cannot find any other fault

    Hi

I am experiencing the same problem, TCL and check engine light this comes on coincidently when the car gets up to temperature, it might have nothing to do with it. My husband has checked what we think are the selanoid, breather pipes etc as suggested earlier without any pictures (if someone could post some would be helpful) I am not really sure we are cheking the right things. we have been to several garages and breakers of jap cars and no one can shed any light on this for us.

all help greatly appreciated if anyone is local to Bradford area and could point out what this could be I am also willing to travel too to get this sorted

    thanks

    Philippa

I don't have a car with traction control to take a photo of. But you need to be following all the small pipes that come off the top of the throttle body. They lead to a plastic cylinder on the bulkhead, and to the driver side of that also on the bulkhead are the solenoids.

I've had the same issue in early 2010.
All I had to do was cleaning both connectors to the valves mentioned above (had some moisture, cleaned with brake cleaner), did a little squeeze on the connector clamps inside for a tighter fit, attached a dot of vaseline inside the connector before reconnecting it and reset the error codes. Not a single light or errorcode again since then .

    monaro, sorry !

these are the little miscreants on camskills website, tho no doubt there are a few floating around on here but if you want new !
just remember these are sensitive to any vac leaks and that could be triggering the annoying orange light, i had the same and it drove me mad,was kindly given a set by another member and all has been well since.
    but check these out anyway

Thanks everyone, the problem was resolved by replacing the vaccum solenoid valve...

Even the car is sold now
