Finally bit the bullet and got myself all new wheels after a long and tormented time with the, ahem standard and 'unbalanceable' Galant 17" alloys. Despite having professionally refurbed a couple of years back at a cost of £240 this lasted all of 6 months before clipping a pot hole in Surrey which buckled both nearside rims rendering one totally unuseable particularly if put on the front. Wouldn't be so bad except I'd had them refurbed in a custom bronze colour!
Anyway after a long wait I've managed to get hold of some 17" Borbet LV4's from www.Rimstyle.com (top marks for customer service!) with a set of 215/45 Goodyear Eagle F1's all in for £871. This is cheaper than the sites advertised price for this package and I think it even includes new nuts and locking nuts. Originally just went online looking for a reasonable alternative as I've been told for weeks by numerous retailers that these wheels are no longer manufactured. Anyway as luck would have it and with a 4 day turnaround from Germany the wheels and tyres are very much available and should be with me by Friday! . All I need to do now is double check all the corners for any wear and if all systems are go slap them on. I'll probably get the tracking checked as a precaution as I've scrubbed out a new set of tyres in 3 months before now without realising.
My old wheels consisting of 4 x silver and 4 x bronze wheels will be for sale in a few weeks or so. In the meantime here is a photo of how the new rims will look (my car is black)
