    4th - 5th rev flair

noticed a few days ago that when in drive and going though the gears i have a 'flair' in the revs ,about 500rpm when in the process of changing from 4th - 5th.
seems to only be in the first 2 miles ish so the gear box is cold , doesnt do it when warm.

Fairly normal behaviour for some cars I would say.

    Except manuals, of course!

Yes. Especially more likely when still cold.

all my v6's (n/a and turbo'd) have raised there revs between changes, the vr is worst, the lighter flywheel just lets it spin up as the load is released by the clutch

Our automatic transmission can take up to 30 mins to warm to operating temperature, I've data logged it. Crappy shifting is pretty standard until then. If it bothers you too much then you can install an ATF thermostat such as the one Derale makes.

This is a must if you add an extra atf cooler or use a big stand alone one.
