    Odd question re. insurance

Took out a multicar policy with Admiral last year, I am the main driver on the Leggy (with a few years no claims) with the missus as a named driver and she is the main driver on our other car (0 no claims as she has only recently passed her test) with me as a named driver.

You may remember I wrote off her car earlier this year and as she was the main driver (thus apparently policy holder) she had to deal with the claim. She reckons they told her that I will not lose my no claims as it was her policy that's been claimed against, is this correct? This would be better for us than me losing my no claims as she didn't have any to lose... Who loses the no claims, me or her?!?

Her, as it's her policy. Just imagine what the position would have been if she was on a separate policy with a different insurer. It would be that policy that is affected (as you were the named driver), so the same appears to apply for the multicar policy.

Of course, it is you that shows as having had a fault claim on your record, which needs declaring whether you are the policy holder or a named driver on another policy.

You can still have no claims bonus having made a claim, the easiest way to say it is as Marc says, "I have 4 years no claims bonus, with 1 accident".

It would be sensible to tell your insurance before renewal that you have had an accident,if they find out after then if you were involved in another accident it could invalidate your ins
