You CANNOT remove the back of wing mirrors that have foldout motors

Right age old question, can you take the backs of wing mirrors with electric fold out motors?

Well I have just tried & the answer is no! That's what I have discovered.

BUT you can change the back's over if they do not have electric fold in/out mirrors!

Mirrors without motors are pretty easy to do but the ones with them in the only part that comes apart is the plastic surround.

If you require photos of this fact then I will take some pickies over the weekend.

That is cold spec mirrors I think? as it's got the heated mirror part in it.

Mine does not have that dude so I think it's a warm spec car? If that is the difference then cold spec you can do it & warm spec you cant!

On my old black vr4 I refurbed my mirrors and one back was removable and one was not, there was a slight difference to the look where the back joins the rim but not noticeable unless you really look for it, but never found out why they were different. Maybe gly has the answer.

    Bye for Now!

The thread Aboo linked to is mine and the ones pictured are FL cold spec mirrors. I never managed to complete the swap as the PFL mirrors use a different mounting for the backs, I did however manage to remove them but forgot to take pictures at the time.
